The Globe and Mail is reporting that Jussi Markkanen has signed a one-year deal with Jokerit of the Finnish Elite league.
Markkanen was 5-9-1 with a 2.15 goal against average in 22 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. The Finnish born keeper has 44-47-7 record with eight ties over 128 NHL games with Edmonton and the New York Rangers. ![]()

The reason he went to play there was that was where he grew up in Finland and probly wanted to be near home. He wasn't happy with being a backup goalie.
