Dwight Freeney named franchise player

Update: Indianapolis designated Freeney as its franchise player on Monday, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: The Colts aren't about to let one of the most recognizable faces on their defense leave without gettting the final say. Shoulder and knee injuries played a part in Freeney registering a career-low 5 1/2 sacks, but the impact he could still make if he returns to form is reason enough to place the franchise tag upon him.

Great move, Dwight showed that he was a leader, and I think may have been the reason the Colts won the Super Bowl. Definetly a wise investment, since a good defensive lineman keeps getting harder to find...
