Default All-Star Carmelo Anthony Look For A Win; Nuggets Visit Pacers

Quote:
With Allen Iverson sitting out again, the Denver Nuggets look to avoid a fourth straight loss when they visit the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

Denver (23-24) has dropped seven of its last eight, including a 114-112 overtime defeat to New Orleans on Wednesday. The loss dropped the Nuggets under .500 for the first time since they were 3-4 on Nov. 15.

Iverson, who had sat out the previous four games because of a sprained right ankle, returned and scored 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting, but re-aggravated the injury.

"I can't help us out there like this," he said. "I tried as hard as I can tonight, but it just wasn't me. I couldn't move the way I wanted to move and I couldn't get to the basket the way I normally do. I felt at times like I had to settle for jumpers because I couldn't get there all the way."

Default Anthony, Nuggets Hold Off Pacers to Snap Losing Streak

Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 9 (AP) -- The Denver Nuggets were short-handed because of injuries and the Indiana Pacers were because of ejections.

In the end, the Nuggets beat the Pacers 102-95 on Friday night with the players and coaches who were left.

Denver starters Allen Iverson and Marcus Camby sat out with injuries, and Indiana coach Rick Carlisle and point guard Darrell Armstrong were ejected in the second half. The Pacers lost their third straight home game, largely because they lost their composure.

The normally calm Armstrong started arguing with official Eli Roe midway through the fourth quarter after he disagreed with a call. After Armstrong was given two technicals and thrown out, he followed Roe and continued to talk to him before being restrained by teammates.

Default No time to lose their cool

Quote:
How things have changed in a week for the Indiana Pacers.

A week ago today, the Pacers had won six of their previous seven games, they were five games over .500 and breathing down the neck of the Detroit Pistons for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Now they're losing their cool, getting ejected from games, kicking chairs and losing games.

And, they're doing it against teams with losing records.

The Pacers dropped their third straight to the Denver Nuggets, 102-95, at Conseco Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Default Pacers seethe about way officials call Nuggets game

Quote:
Indiana Pacers center Jeff Foster dressed and left Conseco Fieldhouse quickly.

Point guard Darrell Armstrong said he has a check ready if the league fines him.

Forward Jermaine O'Neal was waiting for the media to ask him about the officiating after their 102-95 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.

The Pacers are fuming over what they call a "lack of respect" from certain officials.

Default Nuggets hang tough in 102-95 win

Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS - The Nuggets finally kept their cool in the fourth quarter.

The same hardly could be said of the Indiana Pacers.

While the Pacers griped with the officiating crew in the second half, the Nuggets had no qualms about escaping Conseco Fieldhouse with an ugly 102-95 win Friday night.
