"Nashville Predators left-wing Scott Hartnell is a strong candidate to get moved before the season's trade deadline, reports the Ottawa Sun. Hartnell, who has 10 goals and seven assists in 25 games with the Preds this season, turning down a three-year deal last summer and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2007. The Sun claims the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders have all called to check on the availability of Hartnell. " ================================================== ============================= I don't believe this will materialize at all.... Hartnell is finally out of Trotz' doghouse and he's having a great time this year. I believe he'll sign a 2 - 4 year deal with Nashville after the season is over... |

No offense Dave, but the Ottawa Sun is a crappy rumor mill. They toss out garbage all of the time. I could see the team possibly moving Hartnell; but to me it goes against some of the things the Predators have stood for from the beginning. Hartnell is a home grown prospect; one that they spent time developing...and are now reaping the rewards of his hard work to have a two-way game. The Predators are not so near the cap that they need lots of space so why would they deal him? Just because the Kings want a player? Just because GM's check on the availablity doesn't mean he's necessarily available. The Predators are playing well; why mess with that chemistry now? GO WILD!!!

I think Poile will do whatever it takes (hopefully) to resign Hartnell to a lucrative contract (somewhere in the 2 to 4 year range) this coming off-season... Hartnell is leading the team in goals scored, so the Preds could hardly afford to let him go... |

Precisely why its such a crappy rumor. Garroich and the rest of the jokers at the Ottawa Sun ought to be fired for the tabloid-esque rumor reports. They basically said it was a lock to see Gaborik traded to the Senators this summer and then he signed a 3-year deal with the Wild. I think they do it out of boredom; the Senators have been enigmatic for so long they just mention a player and say there are rumors about him being dealt; name a few struggling teams as interested parties...and woosh you have your "rumor."
Another garbage news source for rumors is Spector and anything associated with Ecklund. We laugh about their rumors all of the time at Wild.com. The Ottawa Sun is also reporting the Wild are looking to move Mark Parrish; which seems rather ridiculous since we signed him to a 5-year deal. A 5-year deal in today's salary cap NHL is pretty much immovable nowadays. GO WILD!!!
