Let's all guess when Favre will retire, and post the things he says during the season about how he will/won't
This will be an endless thread.

Yeah I'd say about 2-3, but FAvre is a tough guy, god knows, it could be 5.

It is really hard to say with Brett; but I think he will play the 2007 season and then be done. He is probably really regretting the decision after this off-season though. He is not at all happy with TT and is in a tough position right now because no one can blame him for his displeasure with the lack of action this off-season but in the end he’s going to look like a whiner to most people.

Chew on this for a while. If true, this is not good. Suposedly, on ESPN today, they're saying how Brett asked to be traded after the draft, based on TT's unwillingness to get any red zone help.
Packers | Favre asked to be traded before the draft Sun, 13 May 2007 09:08:18 -0700Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre's agent, Bus Cook, phoned general manager Ted Thompson within two to three days of the draft and asked for a trade, according to several team and league sources. The sources said Cook railed off how his client was fed up with the organization and wanted out. Head coach Mike McCarthy tried phoning Favre, but the quarterback ignored all off his calls for a week. The two finally connected in the middle of this past week, and sources close to the situation said Favre asked McCarthy if he was aware that Cook asked for a trade. McCarthy immediately insisted that would not happen. McCarthy told others inside the organization he had cooled Favre's anger. By the end of the conversation, Favre admitted he did not want to go elsewhere. However, Favre has told friends on other teams he is frustrated with the organization's failure to acquire WR Randy Moss, who was traded to the New England Patriots. |

That is not good for the Pack. And of course he'd be frustrated for not getting Moss.

This helps the organization in ways unimaginable. By saying something like that he opens the door for us to push him out. It's a shame we drafted Aaron Rodgers a couple years ago, or we could have Brady Quinn right now....but this helps our organization move forward for the future, where we win on Defense!!!!

--from those who, for whatever reason, think that Brett isn't the best QB that the Packers have...here's the statement from the Packers.com site:
"I was frustrated a couple weeks back when Randy Moss was traded to New England. I never wanted to be traded and I don't want to be traded. I want to be in Green Bay. I want to finish my career as a Packer. Sometimes when I get frustrated I let my emotions get the better of me. As I said in February when I announced that I was coming back, I am excited about the young talent on our team and the improvements we're going to see from one year to the next. I really enjoy the young guys I'm playing with. I'm working hard down in Mississippi right now, rehabbing, and I plan to be in the best shape of my life. I look forward to playing with this team and seeing what we can do. I think we can be pretty good" Now I don't have any problem with the fact that the overrated, overpaid cancer moss did NOT wind up in Green Bay--I'm wondering if Favre's frustration might not be moss-specific, but more a generalized unhappiness with the dismantling of the offense of the Packers..with moss being the focus right now, but only because he represents one of the few professional-grade offensive weapons left available...... Realistically-the Packers have TWO proven threats on offense, apart from Favre, on the roster currently...Donald Driiver, an aging overachiever whose heart is far larger than his ability but is a warrior in every sense of the word: and Bubba Franks who's ability has been neutralized by the dismantling of the OL, requiring him to stay in and block on almost EVERY play.... Other than that?? Jennings-potentially a very good WR, IF (and it's apparently a BIG if) he can stay healthy and on the field, then...nothing special. ANY WR with professinal experience and some history of even limited success would be an improvement over the no-name wanna-be's wearing the 80's numbers..... Ahamn Green and Wm Henderson are gone-leaving Venond Morency (career backup), Noah Herron (see Vernond's note)and a bunch of unknowns as well as a rookie with two bad shoulders...the one TE who couldn't block so he DID wind up in patterns David Martin is gone....just who IS left?? While it would be nice to say the rooks will step up and fill those roles, it may well be too much to ask of guys with third and fourth round talent to become not only starters but high-quality starters in their rookie year..... While Im not is the "The Packers owe Brett..." camp, I would think that tt needs to see that he IS the best QB the Pack has available and he's not going to be there much longer...that maybe spending a 1st round choice on one of the more secure positions on the roster might not have been the most wise, and the fact that according to him the "...organization is committed to winning. Ane we want to win NOW" What exactly happens in 2-3 years when all of the rookie of ted's contracts start to expire?? Especially if they would all pan out?? How many would be shown the door (to the cheer of the "we can't spend too much money" fans), when they try to get what the market is bearing right then? How long will Packers' fans be willing to see this pathetic excuse for a team that gets shut out at home TWICE in one season go through this aimless floundering while one of the better QB's in the NFL is wasted for the last year or two of his career??? When will tt become accountable to ANYONE for the damage he's done, and the schism he has been responsible for among Packers' fans?? |

You know, I think it really depends on what kind of person Brett is.
I mean, does he want to leave on a good note? I fthat's the case then if he has a bad season he will keep going. Or maybe he will just get tired of having bad seasons he will just retire. But who knows? If Brett has a great year he will keep playing. This thread could last a while.

This is it for Brett. With no running game threat, other than Morency and Jackson, along with a developing interior offensive line, I see the Pack offense struggling. They ended the season well in December, but this year's schedule is tough...anyway, Brett will talk about retirement in the following manner:
Well, right now my body feel's as good as it ever has. I like a lot of the young guys we got on the offensive side of the ball. I think they're starting to understand the offense a little better each game, and I think I can play at a high level with these guys. As long as I believe I can play at a high level, you know, I'm gonna stick around... Stuff like that all season long. |

The offense will be just fine because our running game will be much better than last year because our line has now had a year together. They are growing, and played well at the end of last year. I think people are way to judgemental of TT's rebuild of our offense. I love what he has done, because as our D keeps getting better, our offense just has to control the ball more...and we have a strong young OLine to control the game. Beautiful plan....
