Default Nieuwendyk will stick around

Quote:
Sunrise · Joe Nieuwendyk's involvement with the Panthers' organization became official Thursday as the team named him its special consultant to the general manager.

Nieuwendyk, 40, who retired in December in the midst of his 20th NHL season and second with the Panthers, will be involved with scouting, drafting and player development while working alongside Jacques Martin and assistant general manager Randy Sexton.

Nieuwendyk will stick around: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

I think this is a great move by the Panthers. He has so much to offer a club, and he was such a good player for a long time, that he'll be able to offer insight on players and style of play, that can only benefit the team.

Glad to see he wants to stay involved in hockey. So many of the older guys that we grew up watching, need to stay involved and try to impress the values they had in terms of the sport on the younger players in my opinion.
