Marlins Cabrera reportedly wins big in arbitration

Quote:
JUPITER, United States (AFP) - Florida Marlins third baseman Miguel Cabrera has been awarded 7.4 million dollars in salary arbitration for the 2007 season, MLB.com reported.

Cabrera, a three-time All-Star, received the third-highest salary ever awarded in arbitration, trailing only the 8.2 million dollars Atlanta center fielder Andruw Jones received in 2001 and the 10 million dollars Alfonso Soriano earned after losing to Washington last year.

The 23-year-old Cabrera was second in the National League with a .339 batting average and set a franchise record with 50 doubles.

He also added 26 homers and 114 RBI and became the third-youngest player in league history to have three straight 100-plus RBI seasons, behind only Mel Ott and Ted Williams.

Cabrera made 472,000 dollars last season.

Miguel definetly deserved, you can say he was the most underpayed player last season after all he has done/ A 7 million dollar raise looks good
