Default Where did all the Hockey FANS GO?

Wow!

Has hockey really fallen that far down below? Is it no longer a mainstream sport? What is about hockey that people don't like? Fighting? Speed? Sidney Crosby?

Here's why I believe the NHL hit the all-time low.....

1) Hired a Commisioner who didn't really understand or know the product.
2) Expanded too quick, too fast, too south.
3) Failed to identify a committed network before expansion
4) Salary Cap - yes, I said it.

While most of you are skratching your head over why I put salary cap or calling me an id#ot for saying it, maybe we need to consider a few things.

The NHL doesn't have a proven fan base and thanks to the salary cap, the NHL will never produce another dynasty again. Dynasties attract fans. The Oilers and Islanders of the 80s. The Penguins and Red Wings of the 90s. Thanks to the Cap, every team that wins a Stanley Cup going forward will be questioned as to if they really were the best team that year!

Nothing really....actually just shocked there's a handful of comments all year in this forum.

But you're right, let's get fantasy hockey specific. I played a head to head hockey pool this yr. The categories were +/-, goals, assists, PM, shots against, etc....it's actually a decent pool. Went to the finals in the first yr. But then the second yr came around and the commissioner added two teams. By then, we were 18 teams each drafting 20 players and keep in mind, each team started 2 goalies...so it thined out....and well by week 4, we were officially out. We then made some illegal trades, but that still didn't payoff, cause little did we know, so was everyone else.

The whole point.....only 8 of the 18 are actually following the progress while the others start talking baseball. But not me, I found a new site, new fantasy. It's a stock simulator on fantasy sports stocks dot com. I bought the Pens near the trade deadline and they haven't dropped since....it's really fun and I love cause I'm always in it no matter what.

In case you haven't noticed, this board is hoppin' too much, so don't be too shocked.

People are talking about baseball over hockey at this time of year?! That's a true travesty.
