There are 2 rules of thumb that I am aware of... the first is as you said, your keepers are your first 3 picks in the draft (but worst team still picks first).....

The other is to have costs associated with players.... AKA Tomlinson would count as a 1st round pick as a keeper, so you would not have a first round pick.... Jamal Lewis could count as a 3rd round pick, so you would have no 3rd round pick.... Daunte Culpepper could count as a 7th round pick.. meaning you would have no 7th round pick...

in this way, with weighted players, it is not always just rounds 1-2-3 that you lose with your keepers.... depending on the quality of your keepers.... the problem with that is of course, these ratings are subjective to the commish or a council.... I've been in a league like this... bu I would rather just have 3 keepers and they just count as your first 3 players and 12 additional rounds need to be drafted

I say your keepers will already be picked obviously. Then do your reguler non keeper draft, Order based on standings in the league. One question though, Does a .500 team who may win the divison ( makes playoffs as division winner) pick after say a team 4 games above .500 ( makes playoffs but not as division winner, but as wild card) ?

Another is to go by where the keeper was picked in last year's draft. Say Colston was drafted in the 8th-9th round this year, he would count as a 4th round pick for next year's draft. A 4th-5th round pick would cost a 2nd the next season, 6th-7th would equal a 3rd next year...

It can be strictly done by winner, then record... or by the finish of the playoff teams in order, followed by the rest sorted by record....

When we get all the participants, we can vote on which option the league would rather have

Default League set up as of now...

Here is a breakdown of the league set up as of now...This is not a final deal, alot if still up in the air so PLEASE review this and state your opinons.

Number of Teams/Keepers/Divisions

12 teams
3 keepers
4 divisions of 3 teams

Points System

Passing Yards (30 yards per point)
Passing Touchdowns (6)
Interceptions (-2)
Rushing Yards (15 yards per point)
Rushing Touchdowns (6)
Receptions (.5)
Reception Yards (15 yards per point)

Return Touchdowns (6)
2-Point Conversions (2)
Fumbles Lost (-2)

Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3)
Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3)
Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)
Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)
Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)
Missed Field Goals 0-40 Yards (-1)

Point After Attempt Missed (-1)

Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1)
Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

"Dead Owner Prevention"
Not sure if this is yet agreed by everyone.

Have to check in once a week staing your still active. If you miss 2 straight weeks* and no one has heard from you, your no longer in the league, or (adding to this) We take a League vote on if they can stay in the league.

*there are exceptions, but for the exceptions, a nice notice like "hey, I'm going on vacation" etc... would be nice.

Granted there are always unforseen stuff ex: hospital visits, family issues, etc..... As soon as you can please, let us know you may miss or why you missed ( this is where a league vote would be good, because if someone is sick or whatever they should be allowed to stay in even if they miss the 2 week deadline.)

Please state your view on this. The Goal is to keep everyone active and prevent drop outs.

Positions

Starting Lineup

1QB
2RB
2WR
1 WR/RB
1TE
1K
1DEF

Bench consists of 6 players making the rosters of 15 players per team.

keepers consist of 1/5 of a team (3 players)

The WR/RB slot is usually a WR but the added flexibiity for bye weeks or just for the heck of it makes this option nice. Some people may want to start 2RB and 3WR each week or 3rbs and 2 wrs, its up to you.

Draft Order/Style

The order will be done by a random number generator.

1 order for the keeper draft and a new order for the draft for next season... we'll have to decide on a new random order or just the reverse of the keeper draft order.

I suggest we just reverse the keeper draft. #1 in keeper is #12 in non keeper and so on.

style

Serpentine style.

Pick Trading

Since we will be drafting in a forum on here. It should NOT be a problem as long as we keep careful track of all trades. Maybe Make a thread for all trades involving picks.

Playoff structure

12 teams, 4 divisions, 3 teams per division.

I suggest the 4 division winners plus 2 wild card spots.

So 6 teams total in the playoffs.

Still undecided is when the Finals will be?

Week 16 or 17?

DiamondDave please add or subtract anything that needs to be. I did this so people wouldnt have to go through pages to see whats going on thus far.

As far as points go... I very highly recommend not having fractional points. It gets way too confusing IMO. I find it much easier to understand what your score would be if you only have whole numbers. I understand, a guy gets 14 yards receiving and you get the shaft for it - but it's the same way for everyone.

I also like the idea of trading picks - as long as we pay careful attention to it and keep a good record so no one gets cheated out of something.
