I made some serious returns on my portfolio in both the NBA and NHL. Now I wanna take them and dump into a baseball team.
If I go with my emotional attachment I say Yanks. If I go with my logic I say Yanks. But will the Yanks really win the division? |

Go with the Milwaukee Brewers...since they are healthy they should get off to a hot start, their flaw is the health risk of Sheets. Once he goes down, sell them off. But the main point is you'll buy lower than the Yanks or Red Sox, and be able to sell higher than what you bought it at. That is the point right?

Ya, that is the point. Last I checked, the Brewers were at 420,000 and the Yanks at 700,000. So there is a big difference. Maybe I can split it. Fantasy Sports Stocks dot com has the Red Sox at 660,000. Maybe that's a better buy than both?

I agree with BMW. You want to buy low and sell high. Picking any championship contender won't really allow you to sell high. The Red Sox and Yankees prices are already near their ceilings. There's nowhere to go but down. At least with a team like Milwaukee, or Cincinnati, or some other small market club with a chance to surprise people, you could make out really well.

I'm a Brewers fan, so I'm probably a homer, but Capuano and Suppan are very consistant, and Sheets is a Top 5 Ace when healthy, and a lot of people are predicting HUGE years from Sheets and Dave Bush....Claudio Vargas is the 5th guy, and he's not terrible either. With Turnbow and Cordero they have two quality Closers....I just think there's a lot of upside compared with the price they are available for. Both the Sox and Yankees will likely only go down in value because at this point they can only disappoint with all that hype.

The Marlins look good too. I checked, they are at 400k....if I buy 5% I can probably earn about 10k on a strong first half of the season...I can sell at anytime so I'm not too concerned...it's like those other fantasy games, where you committ the whole season...I can buy today and sell tomorrow for a gain.
If the Yanks and Sox go to the world series, they'll hit the million mark...3% of 1000000 would be 30,000 roughly....it's a tough call. Sometimes it's worth it to go with the Blue Chip. Rggggh! I'm splitting the portfolio. |

BMW, I see what you're saying about the BrewCrew but I think the Reds could be the surprise team in the NL Central. They've got a 1-2 punch in the starting rotation with Arroyo and Harang. Milton could be a solid No. 3. They've got an excellent outfield with Dunn, Griffey and Freel, and Hamilton potentially in the mix. They also have a superb defensive infield with Alex Gonzalez at shortstop. The Reds stayed competitive deep into September last year, so if they improve by just a few games, they could be a playoff team.

Zen: Milton is a joke, and I think he's more like a #4 or a #5. I think the Reds have a nice bullpen. I don't see Cincinnati being a playoff team unless they can get more starting pitching. The Marlins are a nice team, but they made a HUGE mistake in firing Joe Girardi.
