In a keeper league, traded Kazmir, Casto and Wigginton for Cameron, Brandon Phillips, Danks, K. Rogers and Humberto Sanchez. So far the consensus is that it was a really good deal for me. Hopefully Phillips is the reaL deal. Any input is appreciated

That could be a good deal mybe. I don't know about next season though.
Cameron can be a good bat and Phillips must be the real deal or it could be a bad deal if he's not. Kazmir is a tuff guy to give up but he is pitcher atless. |

Is it too late for a take-back?
I think you got burned if you're counting on Phillips + a prospect to somehow offset Kazmir for the future. Brandon Phillips even in his breakout year looks like a pretty average fantasy 2B: a little speed, nothing spectacular in the OBP or power departments. Kazmir is a pitcher and that makes him inherently risky, but you're not exactly trading him for a proven bat. The prospects you're gambling on are pitchers too and I'll take a proven, young pitcher any day over a prospect. - Kevin

Phillips will be in the lineup everyday for his defense alone, so that in turn should give his offense a chance to improve as he matures, and not too many potential 20 HR/20 SB 2B out there . No matter what deal you pull off there's an element of risk. Hindsight is 20/20, to quote a tired cliche. We'll see how it pans out

i'd agree it's tough to give up kazmir at his age. i'm a big fan of his...but his arm troubles late last season scare me a bit. he's logged some serious innings for a pitcher that young. he does have huge upside though. casto and wiggington are "throw-in's" though, so you're not really out anything there.
and, let's look at the guys you got in return: cameron...steals bases still, get's hot at times, but isn't all that consistent. still pretty solid though. phillips tailed off a bit last season, but still put up very good numbers for 2b. could be a huge steal if he can build on what he did last season. and let's face it...he's in a good ballpark for inflated offensive numbers. k. rogers...not much left in the tank, but still that "crafty left-hander" and get's wins in a great pitchers park. danks is a stud, but not sure if he'll crack the rotation this season or not. nice to hold on to though. h. sanchez is a really good pick-up. not sure if the yankees will start him in the 'pen or not, to ease him in. either way, will be a middle of the rotation kind of guy for a team that will score him some runs. all in all, i'd say you got the better end of the deal -- future-wise, and the upside dept. danks and sanchez will determine this one. kaz is a big one to give up, but i think you'll still come out on top of this one. |

Im w/ Kevin on this one...Phillips isnt a great fantasy 2b & I would have to get a HUGE advantage in any trade were I am trading Kazmir & I dont think you got a HUGE advantage, IF any...
