Alright, Can't really give you an the best answer to that question without having an idea of what you would like to do with your team.
So can you tell me who you like? Who would love to get with your first 3 picks? Who would you settle for if you can't get any of them? And Who would you rather stay away from? |

ite heres my plan every year...for the past 7-8 years...i dont draft a pitcher til the 4-5th round...i stay away from injury prone players...and my teams are usually power hitters with rbis...recently...my team last year had holliday teix arod fielder, the year b4 was holiday arod howard cause i traded for him and soriano....i been the finals once so maybe i need a new plan maybe go more with a power speed combination...i would love to have holliday again but not with the first pick....so hes prolly a long shot...tell me what u think

Alright, The #5 spot sounds to be the best. Ryan Howard would be a very good value pick at #5 and if he goes at 3 or 4 then a reyes or wright fall to you or you could get Fielder if you want too and then you would be in the right spot to take a Alfonso Soriano or Carl Crawford in the secound round or even a Carlos Beltran although he maybe a little reach and some interesting possabliltys in the early 3rd round.

Alright, with the #3 pick or #4 that spot is slated for Reyes and Wright and are they really any better the Howard that should be at #5? If you ask me I'd say not really and in the 2nd round the best you could hope for in a compitive league is Beltran and although not a bad player but he isn't a Alfonso Soriano.
So the only reason to go for #3 is if whated to make a play for Victor Martinez and why would you when is Russell Martin for picks later and there is a 50/50 chance he don't fall that far and at the #5 there is a somewhat chance of Aramis Ramirez or Ichiro once you get into round 4 but at #3 once you get there your options are going to be in Dunn or others that get overhyped like Alex Rios or a pitcher and the #5 picks would open the chance to wait a round or two before drafting that first pitcher and make you more solid at Hitting. Alright for #12, with them 2 picks your options could be Vladimir Guerrero, Grady Sizemore, Matt Holliday. Not bad but once it comes back around at the end of the 3rd Round your option is going to be Roy Halladay, Jonathan Papelbon and Josh Beckett or reaching for Derrek Lee and Ichiro. Only reason you would want the #12 pick is if you are playing in a league of weak drafters and there is a chance at David Ortiz for the first pick and maybe a Hanley Ramirez or Miguel Cabrera for the secend and maybe a Manny Ramirez and Carlos Lee on the secound turn around. |

Basicly what 645 is saying is map out the first 2 rounds of your draft (or even the first 4 rounds). The further you are willing to slip dwon in the first round, the better the pick you will get in round 2.
If you think Ryan Howard is way better than anyone else and he won't be ther at 5 or 6, you probably want to take that 3rd spot. If you think he will still be there at 5 or you don't see him as a major upgrade over the other players who are likely to go around that spot, drop down and get a better pick in round 2. If you aren't sure where guys will go, take a look at last year's draft and end of season rankings. That should give you a good idea. |
