1. My first buzz-cut
2. The scene where the girl next me suddenly grabbed me because she didnt' expect the scary part.
3. The time the Colombian airliner frying over the Amazon switched off two of the 4 engines to save fuel, and all the regulars turn around to look at the expression on the faces of the Gringoes when they see the propellors stop.
4. Being interrogated at gunpoint for 2 hours by the revolutionary army when I got off a boat in Mozambique without a visa.
5. The first few steps when I first rode a camel.

Actually, I don't know what a hair-raising experience is, never (that I can recall) having felt that kind of immediate fear, if fear is what you're talking about.
