As some of you know, I build chairs for living, and you might also know if you've followed the BBIAC answer and ask thread, I've bought and sold quite a bit on ebay before. I think Terry has asked, have ever sold anything on ebay? at least three times.
Because of the economic slow down and hardly anyone is buying new homes and therefore buying new furniture for their homes, I had some free time to design a new chair for selling on ebay. I combined my work with a hobby. We'll see how it works out. Here's the link to the auction Let me know what you think. Last edited by baidaho; September 17th, 2008 at 01:49 PM. |

I thought this was going to be about ebay. And I had an unsettling comment about that. This did not happen to me, but a friend. An article was sold on ebay. The buyer paid by paypal. The buyer than protested the charge against his paypal account, and contended that his paypal account had been entered without authorization. Paypal then froze the remittance, pending resolution. OK so far. But the SELLER's bank then froze her ENTIRE account, because it was used to verify the paypal account, pending resolution of the dispute. This is very, very scary. That the entire balance in my bank account that I have verified for my paypal account can be frozen, if a buyer contests a payment to me. When phoned, the seller's bank agreed to unfreeze all balances except the disputed amount. But it means, if a person really hates me, that person can send me unsolicited funds through paypal, and then protest the payment and freeze my entire bank account, and force me to beg my bank to release my balance. And maybe they will and maybe they won't.

Man, I didn't know I asked that so many times!
Brad, I have a separate account that I use ONLY for PayPal. When I get 3-400 dollars in it, I empty it out. I figure if someone is able to hack the account, that's all they'll get. Your chair looks great. Is lodge pine similar to aspen? |

They grow in the same forest, but lodge pole pine is a pine tree. It's a little harder and grows usually straighter. Aspen is soft and real light with some contrasting colors.
Ya, you asked the same question a couple of times, but that's over five years. I linked my paypal to a new account today. Thanks you guys. |

Hey BA, I took a look at the auction this morning. The chair looks very nice. Similar chairs in Santa Fe, Taos or Ruidoso would probably cost twice that much. Ebay being what it is miight not be a good place to sell them. It is certainly worth a try and I hope it works out.

I know ebay might not be the place. I still have the same stores I've been dealing with for a very long time. They're a little slow now, but the orders are still trickling in. But trust me, I'm in no way banking on making much money off ebay right off the bat.
It's a start slow and feel it out process. I've looked into an ebay store, but I'm going to run this chair through the auctions a few times and see if I can get a sale or two and build some feedback. |
