Anyone else been watching or plan to watch?
http://www.hbo.com/films/johnadams/ Based on David McCullough's book. I'm really impressed with the first two installments, dealing with the Boston Massacre and events leading up to the Declaration of Independence. As I've gotten older my interest in the American Revolution and follow-on events has grown and grown. And I'm glad to see such an attempt at a realistic and overreaching account of this period in history. Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney continue to prove why they are two of the best pure actors in Hollywood. |

Good stuff. I thought Linney was particularly outstanding as Abigail Adams. The sweat continually on the faces of the actors as they labored in what historically must have been the oppressive heat of Philadelphia in July was an especially nice touch.

Without having seen any of this series, I already knew that. Glad you agree.

In those days, buildings were designed to be liveable in summer without AC. Quaint little touches like windows that can be opened, high ceilings, shade trees on the lawn.

Shaping up as another great, great miniseries.
Man, HBO left every other television operation in the freakin' dust a LONG time ago. Thought the Jefferson character was interesting in his aloof, somewhat standoffish demeanor. Paul Giamatti's greatest line delivered in a movie ever: "You godd*mn mothe**uck*rs" (Pig Vomit in a scene from "Private Parts") |

My favorite Giamatti character was the small Veal Chop part in "Safe Men". Overall best performance, would be in "Duets" where he sang his own vocals.
