Default Dancing With the Stars

I watching the season premier of Dancing with the Stars tonight because well, it was a pretty bare lineup on TV. I mean, My Dad is Better Than Your Dad.... WTF? ***** Cat Dolls?

Recap:

It was all men today:

Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson

This was not nearly as bad of a trainwreck as I thought. Penn is hardly a good dancer, but he's probably going to last at least a few weeks. He is really comfortable on the stage but his technique is mediocre... not Master P or Clyde Drexler bad though.

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska

Okay, Jason Taylor is quite fluid in his motion. He is about the same height as Penn but was much more coordinated. The problem with Jason is that he does not have much of a personality. Based on tonight's performance, I do not think he will finish as high as Jerry Rice or Emmitt Smith. I do think Jason Taylor and Edyta make a good couple though.

Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke

I decided to switch to a different program. From the little I saw, Cristina de la Fuente (WHO?) was pretty average. For a Latino guy, very, very average.

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough

This was just odd. Carolla is like 43 while Hough is 19. I only remember Carolla from the Man Show with Jimmy Kimmel, and even Carolla felt a little awkward dancing with a girl that is young enough to be his daugther. Well, sadly, this was a near disaster. The only thing that will keep Carolla in the game is his humor. This was Kenny Mayne/Tucker Carlson bad.

Hough will not 3-peat. Sad because she and Edyta are the two hottest dancers on the show.

Mario and Karina Smirnoff

DING DING DING!!! We have a winner. Clearly the best couple. Kind of unfair given Mario is a R&B singer. He is just a naturally gifted dancer.

Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya

Kind of snoozed off. Not bad, although not great. Guttenberg is another white guy with no rhythm, although he wasn't bad as Carolla or Penn.

BTW:

Odds To Win (Via Sportsbook.com)
Kristi Yamaguchi 7 - 4
Jason Taylor 3 - 1
Mario 7 - 2
Marissa Jaret Winokur 6 - 1
Shannon Elizabeth 6 - 1
Cristian de la Fuente 8 - 1
Monica Seles 8 - 1
Priscilla Presley 10 - 1
Marlee Matlin 15 - 1
Penn Jillette 15 - 1
Steve Guttenberg 20 - 1
Adam Carolla 30 - 1

Based on the men, I would go with Mario. I may put $200 bucks on this depending on how the women go.

that gotta be some of the worse TV in history of television. What the hell has happened to our society? There's no hope for us when shows like this & American Idol draw so many viewers

Prediction: Adam Carolla and Monica Seles will be the first two couples voted out.

I have no idea what ABC was thinking pairing Julianne Hough with Adam Carolla.

She's about to start work on an album; this gives her the chance while still staying part of the show

There used to be a show called "The Gong Show"---It had a concept that would be refreshing today---really bad acts were mercifully short because they would pull them off the stage with a hook.

I used to think that was just a joke from The Simpsons:

Quote:
Homer mentions that his life long dream was to become a blackjack dealer; Marge corrects him and says: "your life long dream was to be a contestant on the Gong Show and you did it back in 1977, remember??" Then a flashback comes with Homer and Barney both standing in the same pair of pants and playing an off-key rendition of Oh Susanna on the harmonica, to the sound of audience booing and repeated gongs. After the flashback, Homer replies: "We got more gongs than the breakdancing robot that caught on fire" (which really happened on the original show).
