"I couldn't believe it," he told The Sun newspaper.

"I just watched as it went further and further into the air.

"I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me."

Maybe. Or maybe he lost the ring money gambling and needed a story to explain why he was empty handed.

Either way, he is a plonker.

If the story is true, spending that much money on a ring is ridiculous.

The reaction of his girlfriend shows she is quite superficial and annoying.
