I seriously doubt the winners of the show do any actual work.

I really used to like The Apprentice, but this one is AWFUL. Atrocious beyond being even remotely watchable.

The entire point of the show was that the contestants were bright, driven, and performing from start to finish under the pressure of a multi-week interview. The celebrities are none of these things, or at least they are not allowed to be on the show. They are caricatures of the roles they play in society, and the result is a dim freak show.

Last night there was a perfect example of this when one team met with the Kodak executives. Lennox Lewis walks in wearing a bright orange polo shirt and Trace Adkins wearing his cowboy hat. Nobody who is actually trying to be taken seriously in the business world would do something so ridiculous.

I think with shows like this there is a tendency to try to push the envelope with bullsh!t craziness and drama, and this is what you end up with. The whole reason reality tv works is that people are crazy on their own, and if you put them into the right environment they'll do crazy things. This version is way too contrived, and will almost certainly be the end of the series.

I thought the last episode was pretty dramatic, yet it had to be fixed IMO.

Big ***** resigned from the show.

from wiki:

Airdate: January 31, 2008
Task sponsor: Crocs
Task scope: Each team had to come up with a marketing campaign dealing with donating shoes to children in Third World Countries.
Hydra project manager: Piers Morgan
Empresario project manager: Carol Alt
Judges: Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump, Jr.
Winning team: Empresario
  • Reasons for win: They created the most effective and creative marketing approach.
Losing team: Hydra
  • Reasons for loss: Their marketing plan was viewed as not being as creative as the other team's design. Moreover the team has been criticized for not having the "entire campaign package" as the other team has. Hydra only prepared the bin without any further backup e.g. flyers, T-shirts etc.
  • Sent to boardroom: No final boardroom needed
Resigned: Vincent Pastore, due to personal reasons resulting from his treatment by Piers Morgan and due to feelings that he had no place among either remaining teams.

Notes:
  • Piers Morgan assigned Vincent Pastore to spy on Empresario, causing some strife among the team.
  • References were made to The Godfather with Donald Trump being compared to Vito Corleone and Vincent Pastore being compared to Luca Brasi.
  • The final scenes of the episode were a parody of the series finale of The Sopranos.
  • Tito Ortiz was absent from this entire task because he was attending a fight. He was not penalized, and will return for the next task. This is the first time that a candidate that was still an active player were not there for the revealing of the results.
  • It was the first 2-hour episode in this season

She skips past perfectly good Hitler biopics on the History Channel and screenings of "Red Dawn" on AMC.

I'm about to go insane.

Piers Morgan defeated Trace Atkins in the final tonight:

Quote:
The biggest beneficiaries of this 13-week experiment were Morgan's cause célèbre, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which raises money for the families of U.S. troops killed or severely injured while serving their country, and the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, Atkins' pet charity since his 6-year-old daughter was diagnosed with multiple life-threatening allergies.

More than $1 million was raised through the various tasks the 14 B-listers (and Omarosa, whose list usually includes four letters) were asked to perform, ranging from peddling tickets to Broadway musicals to dressing windows to showcase Vera Wang mattresses.

For philanthropy's sake, it was lucky that most of the tasks turned into three or four-person games of "whose rolodex is the beefiest?"

And more often than not, it was Morgan who came through with the big donors, like Virgin mogul Richard Branson, who cut a check for $10,000 during the Broadway task, and Talent executive producer (etc.) Simon Cowell, who during the final challenge bid $100,000 for a shopping date with Ivanka Trump.

Too bad Trace lost, he seems like a very upstanding family man. His meeting with the Backstreet Boys was highly amusing:
