Default The Best League in the World?

Surely the Premier League is now the best league in the world - and it probably has been for several years now. Three of the Four Champions League Semi-finalists are Premier League teams, and they continue to attract the best talent from all over the world.

A fairly dominating performance.

I think part of the key is in the youth development program and the acumen of the clubs to not hold onto talent too long. Where clubs like AC Milan, Juventus, AS Roma, Barca, Real Madrid are all havens for stars, for the most part they are older stars.

To think that van Nistelroy, Beckham and maybe soon C.Ronaldo will have all left Man U and it would get better?

7-1, that's a youth select score, not a CL quarterfinals match.

C. Ronaldo, of course, just signed his extension. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. He's fast becoming one of the top players in the entire world. Just an amazing talent on the ball. Too bad he plays for those &^%$# Red Devils.

As for the main idea of the thread: hard to assess, truly. The top teams in the EPL certainly are among the best, but you look at bottom-half teams like Osasuna and Espanyol making the final four of the UEFA Cup, and you realize La Liga is a very strong league from top to bottom.

Yep, C.Ronaldo signed that extension, a day after I posted. That same day I saw a 100M$ transfer fee being bandied about the airwaves.

ESPNsoccernet - England - Ronaldo signs new contract at Old Trafford

I'm looking back at the group stage results of the CL and I see that all four EPL teams advanced, but only 3 of 4 from Spain did.

I don't know about the depth of either league, I might watch just about a game or two week and focus on MLS for my soccer viewing time, but when the top level so outperforms the rest of the world I have to stand by the EPL being far and away the best.
