My Bocanerga to MLS dream is over

FOX Sports on MSN - Europe -

Instead he's going to play in France. I don't mind losing American talent to England or Spain. I understand losing them to Italy and Germany.

But can't we get a league as good as France?

That's a shame, I truly thought he'd go Stateside! Then again, the football dream is to play in Europe, so I suppose it could be related to that...though...Rennes? Yikes. I'd at least have given him credit for PSG or Lyon, but Rennes is a bit...

In other news, the excitement that Barton is not going to Bolton after all has made me somewhat happy. I'm now seeing reports (though I can't confirm on any of the MAJOR sources) that Phil Gartside is prepared to break the Bolton Transfer Record (Anelka - 8Mil) to sign a new striker. Could we be seeing Johan Elmander, after all? Or is there a new player on the Bolton radar? Hmm...

Well now, here's an interesting one.

Just days after Bolton announced their willingness to break the transfer record on a new striker, the Trotters are linked with Lyon's Milan Baros, valued at 4.5 Million Pounds. Could this be a sign of a redaction of that willingness, or are Bolton getting serious about their signings and going after two good strikers?

Heh, I don't remember where I mentioned it, but I always wondered after Stelios was released whether or not we'd see a reunion of himself and Henrik Pedersen and Hull...low and behold: Sky Sports | Football | Transfer Centre | Speculation | Tigers set for Stelios talks

How about that move? Hull snap up Geovanni after being released by Man City. It certainly seems they're getting serious about keeping up their first time out. I suppose the biggest shock is that they were the first to stake claim on him after his release, despite his skills and ability to play for any team that would have wanted him. Well done, Hull, well done!

Well...this thread has certainly died down a bit

Bad news on the Bolton front -- Danny Guthrie has signed a four year deal with Newcastle, eliminating the chance of him making a permanent move to the Reebok. Link: Sky Sports | Football | Transfer Centre | Done Deal | Guthrie completes Toon move

There are still rumors linking Bolton with Reading midfielder James Harper, though Gary Megson has specified there are Three targets he is looking at for his third and, presumably, final capture (please let it be a GOOD striker!).

Certainly appears as though there'll be more to come in the following days/weeks/etc.

Well...an interesting day for Bolton.

Mustapha Riga (or Riga Mustapha...not sure, as I'm seeing both on multiple sites) signs and El Hadji Diouf moves to Sunderland. Not sure about the Riga deal, but somewhat intrigued by the Diouf deal, considering the supposed price was a mere 2.5Million Pounds, versus the 4 Million valuation Megson mentioned previously. Most interesting, indeed. Good luck, Dioufy!

I'm not sure what Megson said to the Bolton brass, but he's certainly putting the cash on the table to get his squad together. Just a week after signing Mustapha Riga, Bolton have picked up their fourth summer signing in the form of Danny ****tu from Watford for an undisclosed fee (believed to be £2 Million).

I might be a bit off on the math (and, given that Riga's fee was never discussed in the least), but I do believe this makes for Bolton's most expensive transfer window in recent memory. Even when Anelka was brought in there wasn't much cash splashed about by Big Sam...now we're looking at about £20 Million (roughly $40 Million USD) in Megson's first off-season transfer window. Most interesting, but certainly not an unwelcome sight by any means!

The question now beckons -- is this it, or is there still more to come?

(Might as well keep this going)

Happy news from the Bolton camp once again, as Gary Megson confirms that Mustapha Riga will not be his last signing of the Transfer Window, and that he intends to sign two more players before the window closes.

I'll have the links up shortly; however, it is believe one potential deal is dead in the water, while another is still looking likely. My guess, which I cannot substantiate at this time, is that the original deal which is now dead was a look at either Nikola Zigic or Djibril Cisse. My other guess would be that still another deal is for Milan Baros...but again, I cannot substantiate that.

Keeping it going once again.

Bolton have signed Polish player of the year for the past 3 years Ebi Smolarek on a season long loan with a view to a permanent deal. Good move that adds an attacking option to the mix, desperately needed. Megson has also confirmed he is looking to bring in one more before the close of the window. Whether that happens or who it will be remain up in the air.
