Here we are, in the final run of the EPL season. It's been a bit of a nail-biter at both ends of the table for the first time in quite some time.
At the top: Man United have a 3 point lead, with Chelsea still to play their Round 37 game. Arsenal are now mathematically eliminated from the title race thanks to United's win; however, they still have a mathematical shot at 2nd depending on Chelsea's result (and their own, of course). Realistically, it's looking as if Utd will at least take the title on goal difference, if nothing else. At the bottom: Bolton managed to basically save themselves from relegation with their 2-0 win over Sunderland today (thanks to an own goal, as well). The only possible way for them to be relegated now would be for Reading and Fulham to win and Bolton to loose to Chelsea by a difference of about 5 goals or so. A draw will guarantee their survival, but keeping the score close will be more than enough. Reading dropped into the relegation zone for the first time in two months, and are now at-risk of dropping; however, with only Derby to play, it's likely that they can save their season, as Fulham have a match with Pompey on their charts. No matter what, it should be a very interesting final day. Of course there is also the possibility of both teams loosing, and Birmingham winning to save their season and send BOTH Fulham and Reading down. Certainly something to watch for. A note of interest: As per contractual agreement, Nicolas Anelka will NOT be permitted to play against Bolton in the final game of the season. That should make for an interesting game...
