I was reading on the MSN homepage an article about how NHL referee's are swayed. This coming off of the whole NBA referee scandal, they're trying to bring down the NHL's name with this whole thing. I find it funny how they just singled out hockey in the same boat as what's going on over there. As if hockey doesn't have enough to go through without having some American reporter dumping on them just to get people to turn their cheek on our already unpopular sport south of the border. It's bad enough Bettman won't allow another team to come back to Canada.
This sport will and always have a tough time going over in the states. NASCAR get's way more viewership then we ever will, and that's just a bunch of rednecks driving in a circle for four hours. Hockey does have a place in people's psychie and it won't happen in the states. Too many markets down there that just don't really care, you can't tell me that sports like baseball and football don't have their own problems. Baseball mired in a controversy with their own beloved record of home runs on the verge of being broken by an obvious juicer named BB. Micheal Vick being tried for dogfighting whatever the hell that is. And now the NBA for having a crooked ref, we Oiler fans know that there is some crappy reffing in the NHL. Mick Magoo ring a bell? I can't believe this retard for even trying to single out hockey and put it on the same page as the NBA. We were just sitting there minding our own business when all this came about. Most of us fans know that some of our most sacred records will never be broken. Gretzky did it with skill and loads of talent in a sport that is arguably the toughest in the world. Hockey's existence only lies in the heart of true fans, albeit we have some markets in Detroit, Minnesota and Denver that produce some pretty wild fans. I just think it's sad when a columnist looks at something as embarassing as the NBA's crooked ref and tries to sink the NHL with it. |

http://www.fanhome.com/forums/genera...right-now.html http://www.fanhome.com/?p=37 That's the FanHome frontpage written about how every league has it rough right now, but at least in the NHL's case their difficulties are only business and not morality.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time. A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement. |
