Player: Junior Lessard
To: Tampa Bay Lightning FOR Player: Dan Jancevski To: Dallas Stars Quote:
I fail to see the logic in bringing Dan Jancevski back. They dropped him because of the same reason they've just traded Lessard. He's getting no time with the big club. Now, Jancevski jumps right back into the same boat he was in previously, and he's not going to get any shots with Dallas...so...yeah... At least it's a good move for Lessard, as he'll probably get good NHL time.

That's exactly my point. Dallas have too many good players that are getting stranded in the minors because of the makeup of the current team. Players like Fistric and the now-departed Yared Hagos should have been playing in the NHL regularly by this point, and it just isn't happening because of the way Dallas has their promotion system set up. Matt Niskanen got a great break because he's one of those players that you simply can't ignore. Players like Fistric and Perttu Lindgren are going to be stuck in the minors until players like Stu Barnes and Jeff Halpern move on or retire.
Now they've brought Jancevski back, and he's not going to get a real shot with Dallas unless he plays in a game like Tonight, while Dallas is still relatively short-staffed.

Dan couldn't unseat rookie Mike Lundin for a roster spot in Tampa Bay. he couldn't unseat journeyman Doug Janik for a roster spot as the #6 D-man, he couldn't beat out playing-attrociously Brad Lukowich either.
this was a money swap as much as a clearing space swap -- the teams took on nothing really and the Lightning got something they need (more forward players) while being handcuffed in general because of the ownership situation being in limbo here. What's the 411 on Lessard?

Well, the obvious keynote for Junior Lessard is that he's a former Hobey Baker winner. He's a solid winger at the AHL level, and all the information and playing time he received at the NHL level show he's got the potential to be a good fourth-line winger for the time being, with the potential to be much more.
Tampa Bay should fit well for Lessard, as he needs a club that's far more offensively-minded than Dallas. I wouldn't look for him to be too much of a two-way forward, although the potential is there. IMO, it's a bit of a steal for Tampa Bay in terms of what's been given up to what's been brought in.

Stars need someone like Junior Lessard just to put the beef out on the ice. Who is it doing it now.....Steve Ott...phish...give me a Junior anytime over an Ott. Yea, Ott gets certain things done but not like a Junior...get it?

I think Joel Lundqvist was a bit better than Junior Lessard, but I know what you mean about the upsides of a Junior Lessard over a Steve Ott. Krys Barch is supposed to be a multi-dimensional forward, but I haven't seen it yet...
I'm liking the look of BJ Crombeen, though -- he's only played about 4 minutes thus far (posting during the CBJ game...), but he's physical, and seems to have good feet on him.
