That I know of? We can't I agree, it does look messy. I may be wrong, but only John or Bedir can delete, or maybe a global mod?

moderators should be able to delete posts in the forums they're a mod of, unless the admins specifically set it up so that you can't. I don't know why anyone would have done that though.

I just did a bunch of cleanup. Sorry it took that long, but I think i've gotten quite a bit of it.

If something is still oustanding that has to get dealt with that you are aware of please report again and I'll get it cleaned up.

If you're referring to this place as in the "pre-TI/Scout" days, then I agree with you. This place was definetly one of the top (if not the best) sports communities on the web in it's time, hands down! It's just a damn shame that it had to all end in such a whimper (refer to: '02 FanHome to TheInsiders merger for complete details). They really had such a great thing going with the original FanHome... I was lucky enough to be considered one of the original members who registered on the site when it was first established in 1999, and I still have my moments when I've missed the old site even to this very day!

But, if you were referring to this place as in the "post-TI/Scout" days, then I have to disagree with you there. This place (which was basically intended to act as a re-incarnation of the original Hockeyboards.com) never quite materialized the way the founders had hoped. And, I honestly can't say that I blame any one of the old-time users for not wanting to be associated with this site anymore.

I hate to say it, but let's be honest here folks, that the whole FanHome to TheInsiders merger back in 2002 is pretty much what did this place in, and unfortunately as much as the FH owners hate to hear this, this place never has, and likely never will be able to rebound from that disaster. Sure you'll still have a few regulars posting on this site from time to time, but let's not kid ourselves here, it will likely never be exactly how it used to be around here pre-TI/Scout days... Those days are gone forever.

I still wish the owners well with this attempt at bringing the old days back, but I'm afraid to say that it'll likely all go for not, since alot folks (myself included) have more or less washed their hands with FH, and have moved on to other and better things. It was certainly a good run guys. I appreciate that you at least showed that you cared. But, I'm afraid it's just too little too late at this point. Good luck with whatever it is that you folks decide to do. It was a pleasure being apart of this once great website! I'm happy to say that if it weren't for Hockeyboards/FanHome, I'd likely never be here today. Yes, it was indeed Hockeyboards.com that had started it all off for me and my web browsing days. Truth is I stumbled across this site from a spam post from (I believe Matt?) on the AOL Boards. Man, those were the days I tell ya....

Best of luck FanHome! It's been an awesome ride!

-Metro (one of your original users).

FanHome.com - Where Fans Connect <-- This was when Hockeyboards.com officially became FanHome.com (v1).

FanHome.com Hockey: Where Fans Connect <-- FanHome upgrades to v2.

FanHome.com Home <-- FanHome merges with TheInsiders (aka, TI).

FanHome.com -- FanHome and TheInsiders Make History! <--This is what would officially put the good 'ole FanHome into it's grave.

FanHome.com: Front Page <-- TheInsiders becomes Scout.com.

Network Directory Front Page <-- Scout.com takes over the entire network (which causes another database wipeout of the previous [TI] database). A few months later FanHome.com would again go solo, and here we are today...

So, you can see where the long-time user (like myself) would be coming from, not wanting to take another chance at another crazy senario like the above, and having the site soldout to another network, and causing another complete wipeout of the database... After a while, it really becomes exhausting! It is amazing though, that after all these site changes throughout the years, that we somehow find ourselves back on the old domain name where most of us first started out our posting careers.

Like I said, it was a great run for the folks who made this website possible. But, unfortunately as the 'ole saying goes: "All good things must come to an end, eventually". FanHome.com will never be the same again.

I was a poster in the early days of Baseball boards. After it became Fanhome, the baseball side was very busy. The main MLB board and many team boards were very active. Then they were bought out by Scout and it fell apart. Those boards had a lot of posters, but there was no sense of community with no interaction between the team boards. Just getting from one team board to another is almost impossible. The general discusion boards died out as they were not a source of revenue for the owners and the people who came from the Scout boards didn't care about them.

Now, the only boards that see much use are the polical boards.

Fanhome went down the tubes when they started the non-sports boards and let those with far left leanings get politically active and then made some of those into sports mods who drove real sports people away. I know I speak for myself and the old A's mod Oakman.
I was the Yankees mod in the "hayday" and we had a ball here.

Props go out to one of the finest posters we had here, TRANE, who was killed in the 9-11 attacks. TRANE posted just 2 or 3 minutes before the first plane hit. If you think we didn't have quality posters, we raised a $1000 plus from posters to start an education fund for his daughter.

I just came over to check out these boards for the first time. I seems like this would have been a great place to post back in the day.

LMAO...Oakman. Mr Transactions himself.
I do remember the Trane happening. His last post was about Charlie Finley's A's, I was a bit proud of that. I hope his wife & child are doing well.
