How many posters have noticed the Tag Cloud link in the Nav Menu at the top of the forums? How many have noticed the new form field at the end of posts?

First off, if you don't know what tags are... well, it's just keywords. Keywords describing a discussion or a post. You can find a general explanation on Wikipedia.

Why is it implemented on FanHome now? Part of the software upgrade. Most of Web 2.0 (as it's commonly reffered to now) uses tags. Blogs, Flickr, gmail and other Email applications. It's another way to sort, it;'s another way to help in searching for posts or items on similar topics.

Now HOW do you tag? Pretty straight forward with new threads but a little more complicated with adding tags to existing posts.

After you compose a new thread, you can put in tags in the form immediately below the post form. You can add up to five tags (and they should be simple phrases or words. Example post and tags: The Citifield thread on the Mets forum, some of the tags include construction, new york mets, new stadium, flushing meadows.

Now, in order to ADD tags to an existing thread, you can go to the bottom of a thread of discussion (above the Quick reply area) where there is a TAGS field. On the far right hand side there is an EDIT TAGS button. After clicking on that you can add up to two tags to any given thread.

This isn't mandatory stuff, but it's useful for searches. I mean, you can look at the current Tag Cloud here at Fanhome and the larger the text, the more popular the tag happens to be.
