iPhone vs. sidekick

My sidekick has been really awful lately, losing a signal right in the middle of me browsing a web page and sending me texts I've already read and deleted...even days and days after the fact! Does anyone know if the iPhone has simalr issues? I've been considering cancelling my Tmobile contract and getting an iPhone to replace my sidekick.
