Default PC Related: Problem with Laptop Monitor

Ok I have an HP Pavilion dv4000 widescreen 15/17" monitor. Can't really remember which I know sad.

My Laptop froze up earlier today and I restarted it, when I did, my monitor resolution was showing a black border just under the taskbar about 2 inches or so, and along the right side about 6-8 inches of black border.

I finally was able to go into the display properties and get it to accept a change putting it at 1270/768 True color, but the screen is still showing a border. If i move my mouse to the black boarder the rest of the image will slide like I moved horizontal scrollbar over.

Can anyone help me figure this out??
