Fogg, Rox look to roll on the road Colorado (10-15) at San Francisco (12-11), 8:15 p.m. MT
We've got the late game tonight. Jamey Carroll is a .500 hitter (6-for-12) against Lowery, with a double, two RBIs, five walks, and a steal against the southpaw. I'm going to predict that Barry goes yard at least once tonight. Depends on how many times we actually pitch to him. I'm looking forward to it. I always love watching Bonds hit. I'm also really enjoying Todd Helton hit right now. He looks absolutely great at the plate. |

I see that Torrealba is once again in the starting lineup. Maybe I got too busy and missed it, but when did Hurdle announce that Chris Iannetta lost his starting job? Yorvit is starting at least 2/3 of the time now.
If The Cooler isn't going to give Iannetta at least half the starts, I say send him back to AAA and call up Colina. This is ridiculous, and does nothing to help Iannetta settle in at the MLB level. And Clint shouldn't have changed his role because of 30-something anemic at-bats. That's almost no sample size at all! |

What a heartbreaking loss. Too many mistakes cost us in the end. Couldn't come through in the clutch enough either.
Of course, I'm talking about the Nuggets game. I didn't watch much of the Rockies game (except during commercials and halftime), but I suppose the same comments could apply to what happened at 24 Willie Mays Plaza tonight as well. Denver sports fans are fairly depressed right about now. |

When you leave too many runners on base and you don't cash in on those bases loaded situations with zero or one out (I'm looking at you, Matt the Bald), you're bound to lose. This team is beyond pathetic, they're dismal.

Omar Quintanilla is up and Barmes is down. Omar gets the start tonight at 2B in the #8 spot. I always liked Quintanilla and hope he makes a good impression this time. He's got a good glove and can show some sparks offensively at times. The team is much more reactive this year to struggles than they've been in the past. Not so much so that they don't give anyone a chance, but they aren't waiting forever to make a change either and try someone else.
Iannetta and Finley in the starting lineup tonight. With Atkins struggling a bit out of the gate, I like the move of him down the lineup until he turns that around. They ought to be able to hit Russ Ortiz, but he's been better this year now that he's back home. Buchholz has some things to prove for us as well. Could be a high scoring affair. |

High scoring indeed. Got to like the middle of the order getting the job done tonight and increasingly lately. We knew the bats were going to warm up from the slow start, right?
Arias is the talk of the night. Don't know if he'll be the guy (but certainly looked the part temporarily tonight), but for us to fix the pen we really need to find someone as they did last year a couple of times with Corpas and Ramirez. Someone always seems to emerge. They are going to give several young arms a shot at it and see who sticks, as they should. The pen hasn't been very good, but I still maintain that as the season goes along it will become one of our most talented ever. If we keep hitting and plug the pen holes, the record will improve quite nicely. I like our chances to do that with the talent in those areas. Some very good points brought up about projecting April records in the other thread, and how different things can be over the long haul by comparison. A nice start to a new month tonight. Tomorrow could be difficult with oft-mocked Zito throwing well and Francis who has struggled lately (and especially in SF historically). Might see a completely different game from tonight with lots of zeros on the board and needing to pull out a close victory late. |

One must remember that both Francis and Zito are prone to the bad day. Zito is at home, so the odds are in his favor. Francis has been OK on the road. It will depend on who Hurdle puts on the field today. Personally I would sit Atkins and start Baker at 3rd for a change of pace and leave Finley at CF.

And the Rockies lose. Francis pitched a /13 of an inning too much and Corpas couldn't bail him. Now off to play the Reds.
