Everybody knows it. Helton would be a great fit in NY. We've got to make that deal. NYY has absolutely no pitching.
While Cashman is no doubt trying to do the right thing this season. You've really got to wonder if that team has enough to make it. Todd Helton would be a nice upgrade at 1B. They could get Helton without sending much talent in return. Mienkiewiczt can't hit at all. Make a move O'dowd. Earn that extension. Breathe some life back into this dead franchise. |

You write, correctly, that the Yankees top need is starting pitching, then solve their problem by having them trade for Helton? That doesn't make much sense. Helton to Boston still makes some sense, and maybe it gets resurrected in July when we are 20 games out.

Helton is available or rather he should be. There isn't any quality SP available this time of year. While it's not the kind of move I think Cashman would make he might not have a choice. It improves their club and the wouldn't have to send any talent in return.
I think it's a viable option for them. No question that Helton is a serious upgrade over Mientkantsayhisnamewitz. I always enjoy beating the trade Helton drum. Especially after a night like tonight. Get Todd out of here for his own good. He can still live in Colorado. |
