It's to the point where you wonder why Hurdle or Cockrell or somebody doesn't ORDER Holliday to take the first pitch. Bases loaded, put a little pressure on Beimel.
So the stage is set for Kim to blow it again. Kim is a world class loser in these situations. |

Matt Holliday: would-be star power hitter, showing no ability to deliver the run from 3rd with less than 2 outs and a pretty crappy pitcher on the mound
+ BK Kim: showing no ability to throw strikes when they're needed, and then weirdly giving in to Martin when he got ahead 0-2 and Martin looked completely overmatched against him = Frustrating Loss |

Holliday needs to learn how to play baseball and not simply rely on his talent. For as well as he hits at times his approach to certain at bats like tonight with runners in scoring position and his decisions on defense really hurt us.
As for the bullpen, it is clear that Hurdle does not have confidence in Bucholtz or Afeldt. Not that I blame him, but what is the point of having two relievers that the manager doesn't trust on the roster? Doesn't Bucholtz still have options? Our starting pitching has been great so far, but the offense has been subpar, especially with runners in scoring position, and the bullpen has been bad (anybody else experiencing a bad case of deja vu?) |

Gotta love that 0000000ffense, led by Todd Helton and his lusty .241 average, 0 homers, and $16.6 million salary. If ONLY the BoSox had been willing to give us Hansen and DelCarmen, that deal MIGHT have made sense!!

Whose 000000000000000000000ffense is worse, the Rockies or the Giants? They just got shut out for the 3rd time in their first 9 games, and have 2 homers this season. We are on our way to being shut out, and have 4 homers in nearly 9 games.
I guess there's one team more impotent at the plate than the Rockies. |
