Minor league season starts on Thursday... time to get this thread going. Here are the Opening Day rosters:
Colorado Springs Tulsa Modesto Asheville Not many real surprises in who has been assigned to which level. Stewart, Koshansky and Smith are moving up to AAA... Morales, Reynolds, Herrera, and Lo are in Tulsa... Fowler, Nelson, and EY Jr. are moving up to Modesto... and at Asheville, we've got a couple promising Dominican teenagers (RHP Aneury Rodriguez, SS Hector Gomez) making their full-season league debuts. The biggest surprise to me is that Juan Morillo is repeating AA; he didn't have a great year by any means, but I would have thought it was good enough to earn the promotion. I'll be doing the daily recaps, as always. But I encourage you all to check out Purple Row for more in-depth minor league coverage. Last edited by Heltonfan; 04-03-2007 at 07:13 PM. |

Lidge definitely needs a change of scenery. He really wasn't too bad last year, but he certainly hasn't approached his pre-NLCS dominance.
The Astros are in denial. They think they're real contenders this year, so they'd likely want an established player. They also desperately need offense, but they've committed to aging/unproductive players like Ausmus and Biggio. I don't see them dealing anyone until they're out of it. You might be able to deal Lidge for Fuentes at this point, but that's about it. The Rox are getting to an interesting decision point on all their corner IF/OF types. That is obviously their organizational strength (of course, it's the organizational strength for lots of clubs given the typical defensive spectrum). I would expect at least one of the following to be dealt, probably before the end of the season: -- Hawpe -- Baker -- Stewart (I think he's most likely to go) -- Seth Smith -- Koshansky -- Holliday (more likely in the offseason) And, of course, -- Helton (if the Rox fall way behind) Last edited by BigRapidsJackass; 04-10-2007 at 01:33 PM. |

I wouldn't give up any of our SP. I kind of think if Jiminez stays healthy that he'll make it. He's still pretty young. He can be very inconsistent but I think he's made progress.
I'm here to pimp my main man Greg Reynolds. My favorite Rockies starting pitching prospect. He's pitching very strong today. We need Jiminez, Reynolds and Morales to make it. |
