Drew, I heard a stat today on radio which is really the only stat you need to know regarding the playoffs.
The Yankees have made the playoffs 13 consecutive years in a row (redundancy intended)! Money talks. Poor owners cheat their fans and rarely make the playoffs. This is the Rockies first playoff appearance in 12 years. Hmmmmmm... |

As usual, you conveniently ignore the role that player development and acquisition plays in the equation in favor of a worn out platitude about how "cheap" the Rockies ownership is.
The White Sox and Mets were both well North of $100,000,000 in payroll this year at roughly $108 million and $115 million respectively. How did that work out for them? The Dodgers spent $108 million on payroll and produced 82 wins. How about the SF Giants? They spent $90 million and finished with 71 wins. You know, it's funny: I never hear you *****ing about how "cheap" the AZ D'Backs ownership is. They were outspent by the Rockies ($54 million to $52 million), by the way. Maybe it's because they're run by "smart" people and in the playoffs this year? Oh...that's right...so are the Rockies! |
