Well, Drew, you made me click on it, you wily rascal, which I rarely do. I've decided that I'm a writer, not a reader, an embarassing admission. So I compromised...and skimmed it. I get my info from talk radio mostly and tv although I did just read a blurb on the Northern Illinois campus killer because my sources were staying strangely mum about Steven, who was in a mental hospital 5 years ago, for a year, and was psychologically discharged from the Army after only 6 months, so there were red flags of sorts.

I had never thought of the pardon. Again, what has he been charged with? Being overly proud?

Thru talk radio I was aware of the partisan divide during the hearing. This Dan Burton Repub from Indiana? He was the one who tried to turn the Clinton Vince Foster suicide into Hillary killed him. Burton was prominent in defending the indefensible Clemens. Why do Repubs do this?

What do we learn? Dems are after the truth. Repubs want to obfuscate the truth, hide behind legends, promote fantasies, defend lies?

Liked the line where Clemens was in a deer blind and gets a call from the elder Bush, who told him to stay proud, keep your chin up. More bad Bush advice.

Seems obvious now that Roger should have lied, said he only took hgh a couple of times, lie, and that he was sorry, lie, and that he would never do it again, lie. America wants heroes. America wants to forgive. We assume everyone was doing it back in those days (and still might be today, as there is no test for hgh).

America wants to forgive if you give us a chance. Pete Rose denied for what, 17 years? Now he wants forgiveness? Clemens chose the Rose route. Stupid. America doesn't want to be taken for chumps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Clemens wanted this hearing. He should've taken the Barroid path to justice. Prove I'm wrong...
On the Sports Reporters today, they were commenting about this whole deal.
Of all the people mentioned in the Report, only Clemens has taken the "I didn't do it" oath. They mentioned that "he seems to still be wearing his uniform"... instead of taking the "this is the real world, and I'm testifying in front of Congress" look at what's going on.

Maybe Bush has let him know that he'll get a pardon if he's indicted.

I don't know. I think the half-baked conspiracy theories cut out of whole cloth about pardons and back room deals with Republicans are just that.

Listen, Clemens is a guy who subscribes to the "in for a penny, in for a pound" school of thought. He's also a guy who has, literally, everything to lose. Add to that a huge war chest and the knowledge that justice is often for sale in this country and I'm not surprised that he's decided to go down swinging.

Roger has always sort of struck me as a guy who believed his own bull**** anyway...

Watching the Sports Reporters this morning. Bob Ryan from Boston knows Roger as well as anyone. So does NY's Mike Lupicka. They call him arrogant, proud, and what was the other word?

Anyway they were talking like JAIL is a real possibility for Roger now, unless he cops a plea, early on in this new investigation.

No athlete thinks he's going to jail, be it Marion Jones or Michael Vick. Or Roger Clemens.

Nobody likes being lied to...whether it be me, you, your wife, or Congress.

Interesting that Republican lawmakers are now lining up in support of Roger Clemens. What's THAT all about? Why is taking steroids a partisan issue? I'm guessing that Roger gives a lot of money to Republican causes.

The SF Giant owner is totally removing all references to Barry Bonds at the SF stadium...as if he didn't exist. What does that say?

Roger Clemens now connected to a 15 year old (when they first met) C&W singer, Mindy Somebody. His handlers say no no no the affair didn't begin until she was 18. Well, that's a relief.

Just caught the end of some interview on Outside the Lines. The question was who is more tragic, Bonds, Big Mac, or Clemens? The interviewee, Robert Lypsite?, said Clemens because of his awful taste in music. Steroid humor. Ugh.

Especially a guy in his mid-40's who is a complete A-hole to the fans, the media, and has a soiled reputation and is facing federal perjury charges.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why Barry is sitting at home instead of playing baseball at this point. Got to love unions, though. They may not be smart, or live in reality, but they sure are loyal.
