That piece of crap article today seems to promote the idea that the Rockies could be willing to spend $$$ dollars on a "game changer" in the future. I find that entire article to be a complete load of crap.
True enough there wasn't a difference maker CF this offseason. To even hint that the Rockies would be able/willing or even attempt to sign a player like Hunter, Wells or Jones is pure garbage. Charlie is talking out both sides of his mouth. We can't afford Helton, but we might be able to afford a game changer. Those guys will cost between 60-110 million. I just think Tracy is total garbage. Why didn't we spend some of this Andruw Jones coin to sign Aaron Miller? I hope I'm wrong and that this organization really is saving their $ for some future impact All-Star. I certainly won't be holding my breath. Last edited by RMF; 02-02-2007 at 07:49 PM. |

What, RMF, you don't believe that if Vernon Wells had been on the market this winter the Rockies would've paid him $15 million a year?
Actually, Ringolsby's mention of Wells as a "difference maker" who might've justified entering the free agent market is interesting ... isn't JP Ricciardi the official whipping boy of our very own Cowboy? This is the kind of Ringolsby article that is infuriating. Not that he doesn't have a valid point. He does: if there was ever a year to sit out the free agent market, this may have been it. There really was no "difference maker" out there. But why blend this valid point with b.s. about Monfort opening up the pursestrings next year? Surely he knows Monfort won't spring for a big time free agent, so does he think he's kidding? Or is he just doing PR work for the Rockies again .... |
