Exclamation

That sounds absolutely awful, Drew. Pumpkin beer? I'd rather have a Bass or a Beck's or a Guiness.

I realize we Rockies fans will have to do a lot of drinking to get thru another year, but pumpkins are for pie and cranberries are for sauce. Call me a traditionalist.

Hey Rox fans, just so you know FanHome has a couple of BBQs where OffTopic discussions aren't off topic.

Here's the Beer thread

Default Hmm

I stopped drinking a few years ago. It didn't even involve sobbing confessions, AA meetings or a heart to heart with Clint Hurdle.

Pumpkin beer sounds interesting. I guess if it tasted like Pumpkin Pie (Spicey) it might be a nice hearty carbonated treat. If it tasted like rotten squash that would be pretty nasty.

While I favored dark hearty stouts I did run accross a great blueberry lager a few years ago. It was at the little apple brewery in Manhattan KS. They have a great stout also. Tasted like burnt coffee grounds.

There is a nice stout in Longmont Colorado brewed by lefthand. Though it reminded me of a rootbeer float. Good for Stout newbies.

I've never brewed myself. My dad tried to brew up some beer in college in the 60's. It was a little more difficult to get your hands on the right ingredients back then. Between those stories and my germ-a-phobe tendencies I never really considered the proposition.

Besides, who wants to brew beer when you can grow indoor vegetables?

One more thing the west coast has some absolutely fabulous beer. They don't seem to get the credit nationally. KC has the Boulevard Wheat beer. It's only 1000% times better than that Sunshine Wheat crap from Ft. Collins.

I believe the mark of a good beer is as follows. Can you drink it warm and enjoy it.

Yeah, I brew drew.

As far as Pumpkin goes, it is a wonderfull thing to use for Beer. I've had it, and I like it. If the brewer goes easy on the spices, and uses their Hops correctly to complement the spice, its perfect.

For a good PumpkinSpice Ale, try DryDock Brewing in Aurora. Theirs is perfect.

Exclamation wife from hell

A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says, "I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir."

The driver says, "Gee, officer I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating."

Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: "Now don't be silly dear, you know that this car doesn't have cruise control."

As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, "Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once?"

The wife smiles demurely and says, "You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did."

As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, "Darn it, woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?"

The officer frowns and says, "And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $75 fine."

The driver says, "Yeah, well, you see officer, I had it on, but took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket."

The wife says, "Now, dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on You never wear your seat belt when you're driving."

And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket the driver turns to his wife and barks, "WHY DON'T YOU PLEASE SHUT UP??"

The officer looks over at the woman and asks, "Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?"

(I love this part...)

She replies, "Only when he's been drinking."

PeoplePC - News

Barry Bonds is 22 home runs away from breaking Hank Aaron's record.

I think this significant "achievement" deserves a thread of it's own but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe nobody cares but me.

We astute fans know what's going on. Barroid knows how to mask his performance enhancers. He only slipped once, on amphetamines, and quickly tried to blame the dog, errrrrrrr Mark Sweeney.

Will people be cheering when this happens, when he breaks the record? Will the Commissioner have a huge celebration marking the day?

Will Joe Morgan be constantly defending his good friend Barry, spinning away to tell us it's all right?

This is the first year I feel no interest in the start of the season...

Barry Will not be kept out of the HoF. Howwever, I don't expect him to be going in on his first chance. Barry had too many good years in Pittsburgh (pre-Steroids) for him to stay out. IIRC, he won at least two, if not more, of his MVPs wille there.

Congrats to the Colts. The best team from the best conference won.

I really liked the Career builder commercial with everyone fighting over the promotion.

it is a very happy day for me! today is the first day that i have seen a MLB link on the front page of yahoo. pizza delivery has been lucritive so i am going into ST pumped. i would like to ask for a second of silence for the late Dale Earnhardt. i would also like to impose an age limit in this room. you have to be old enough to type. hey fogeybehindthecurtain your mother called, she said that john rocker, tim hardaway, and kramer were waiting in the basement for the weekly poker game.

Default 2007 Rox Fantasy League

For all those interested, I started a fantasy league on Yahoo for Rockies fans. I kept the same rules so far as were in place last year (subject to debate for those interested in playing) except for changed it to weekly lineups since not everyone can check in everyday and it creates a disadvantage for those who are busier.

If you hadn't had time before but are interested, you really would only need to check in once a week to set your lineup. We'll also have a live draft date, but if we get enough people there early and everyone is interested we could also do it via message board over the course of spring training. It is all very flexible depending upon what most people in the league want to do.
