Are you homesick for baseball, HF?
So are we, who live here, in the Rockies! Baseball Draft is this Thursday. I wonder who the Rox will pass over so they can draft someone who is signable and serviceable instead, like when they passed over Evan Longoria to get the great Greg Reynolds. |

Saw Peter Frampton Gammons playing the hard rock guitar version, Bo Diddley's version, on Baseball Tonight, of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. He's not half bad. Big promotion over there. 9 different groups and styles of music competing for the prize. Some country singer is the favorite because she has the best name recognition. Pete liked this Cuban group that was involved. Jazz great Wynton Marsallis was also included.
I guess we're approaching the dog days of summer. This is how espn tries to get the young people who don't really like baseball involved. Cross pollination. Maybe they like music. Maybe they'll text their votes in (regular rates apply) while they're multitasking elsewhere. |

Did Roxpert come back yet with a new screen name?
Good job Cocktoston. Speaking of swift boaters...I wonder how many voters are aware of McCain's sordid past. I say this as the swifties of the far right are trying to destroy and label Michelle Obama, the candidate's wife, as someone who hates America and hates "whitey". Seems she never made any "whitey" speech on Rev Wright's pulpit. All a product of Rush Limbaugh who can say whatever lie he wants and nothing ever happens. Seems like John McCain, the next president?, came home from the Vietnam POW camp, and saw that his first wife, Carol, a former swimsuit model, was disfigured in a car accident. That's when he started having an affair with billionaire heiress Cindy, his current wife, the one he calls the C word, when he gets angry with her, because of his PTSD which was never treated, because the Republicans don't really support our troops. |

Keep drinkin the Kool Aid, Adam. Rush has been promoting this for a long time. He's the biggest talker in the land. Locally Peter Boyles has been pushing this "whitey" thing.
Does it matter who started it? Swift boating is what the far right does. That's how they beat Kerry in 2004. This is how you righties are going to go after Obama in 2008. Formula. Mud slinging. Lies. It goes back to Nixon and Donald Segretti of the dirty tricks division. Welcome to Obama for America this is the website Obama is using to fight off the smears of the far right. I had typed in FightTheSmears.com Reason Mag looks like a right wing magazine, with an agenda. What kind of source is that Incredible? What if you googled it? What would you come up with? How many "blogs" are there? A million? A zillion? Who is Larry Johnson? The ex CIA agent I hear from time to time?
I think my point is that it doesn't really matter who started a rumor (and I would contest who started this whitey one). It's more important who promotes it, who spreads it. Rush is the giant poohbah, pied piper of the far right. He promoted this racist crap. That's part of his following - the racist south, racists in general. Q: what exactly is the difference between being a libertarian and being a conservative republican? Thom Hartmann would say that libertarians are simply republicans who want to smoke dope and get laid. Chicks dig Libertarians? Is that it? Conservative Republicans just care about themselves and their money, taxes, . Conservatives want to have an army, isn't that the chief difference? Conservatives don't mind having an occupying army in Iraq to maintain our colony there. Libertarians don't believe in American Imperialism or a standing army? Isn't that what Ron Paul or Bob Barr would say? |

Bob Beckel? Never heard of him.
Rush Limbaugh? Most famous Republican agenda talker in America. You're missing the point, Incredible. 5 people might click on to a Utube video of Bob Beckel or Larry Johnson (wasn't he a power forward in the NBA?). 5 million people listen to Rush, the pied piper. They are called Dittoheads. No more swift boating. Fight the smears. |

Newman,
what you are proving to me is that you are totally incapable of thinking for yourself. The Dems have brainwashed you so much that you have it in your head that they can do no wrong, and when several facts are presented to you, you still write it up and blame the dirty old republicans. You accuse everyone who disagrees with your view points as kool aide drinkers, and I think you have just proven yourself to be the biggest kool-aide drinkers of them all. |

Fellas,
I think that's just a function of message boards or email. I am hardly thrilled with the Dems. Pelosi and Reid have been terrible leaders. Congress just passed the FISA bill and funded the war in Iraq (the occupation of Iraq, with "emergency funding", not in the budget). They gave in to the weakest president we've had in my lifetime. Makes no sense. The 6th year of a war, a foreign occupation of another country, is hardly an EMERGENCY! No, I am no fan of the Dems, but true, they do have my vote. Why? Because there is no hope with the Republican party. They are owned by the oil companies and big insurance, pharmaceuticals, and so forth. Lobbyists. Multinational corporations. Voting for McCain is voting for McSame. No end to the occupation of Iraq. My America doesn't believe in having an oil colony. The only hope for America is that it vote Democratic, Obama gets in, AND enough Dems are elected in Congress so real change can be made. Colorado is a key state. Bob Schaeffer is owned by big oil. Udall needs to win that Senate seat. What's the price of gas today? $3.92 at my station. No justification for it. All because of oil speculation on Wall Street. This won't change if McCain gets in. And drilling isn't the answer. It's not a supply and demand issue. The only ones who benefitted by Bush's war of choice in Iraq were the big oil companies, and those who have stock in oil, and oil speculators, and war profiteers like Halliburton. The American public is much worse off now, than we were 8 years ago. To keep voting Republican, rewarding them, would be the definition of insanity. Last edited by Newman; 06-23-2008 at 09:48 AM. |
