Default Rockies Humidor Commercial

That was pretty funny. It reminded me a little of the Larry Walker Dante Bichette deal with the floating ball.

Humor is appreciated.

Well Major League Baseball may not be celebrating Barry Bonds as he breaks Hank Aaron's mark this year. But ESPN certainly is.

Karl Ravetch, Buster Olney, and Tim Kirkjian managed to swoon over Barroid during the highlights of Baseball Tonight. No mention of steroids.

"His swing looks good", one of them said.

"I've got August 5th in the pool," joked another.

It just doesn't seem right.

No mention of the stain.

Just sell it.

I couldn't do it. I'd get fired. I'd make a crack about his shoe size or his hat size. 21 homers away. Hank Aaron must be rolling over in his grave.

newman i agree with you. it is a shame and a sham. it is the sad reality of todays society.

my tune has changed a bit on pete rose. i no longer think that he should be in the hall while he is alive. it is irelavant anyway. whether or not he is in he will always have fame. he will always be remembered for one of the greatest to play the game. unfortunatly he will be more famous for how he stained the game.

barry will be remembered in the same way. when he breaks the record there will be an onslaught of celebration folllowed by people questioning the validity of the record. he will forever live with an astrix.

My favorite defense of Bonds is when people say he never failed a drug test. How can you fail a drug test, when you are never given one, since baseball didn't test until a year ago, and even then they still don't test for HGH? It's not possible.

Barry Bonds will become baseball's alltime home run leader this year. It is inevitable, and it is sad. Not only is he a cheater, but he is an A**hole as well.

I love that one too. His hat size grew. His shoe size grew. His best friend and personal trainer is in jail for distributing steroids, but Barry never failed a drug test. Well, he must be clean then

Pete Rose is another beauty, Drew. Did you hear him on with Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick a few weeks ago? He claimed that he bet on his own team, to win, EVERY NIGHT. Yeah, right Pete. Who believes that one? So if you're managing the Rockies, and Josh Fogg is on the mound, facing Johan Santana, and you're down $50,000, you'd bet the ranch on Fogg?

The other thing I never heard about Pete ... does anyone start gambling at the age of 45? I bet he might of gambled before he became a manager. Just a hunch. Wanna bet?

Pete was great at hitting singles. Not so great at telling the truth. And he has a gambling addiction problem.

newman
that reminds me of an interesting story. several years ago a friend of mine was in vegas. pete rose was signing FREE autographs. he waited in line for a while. when he got to the front of the line he saw the sign, baseballs $75. he already had a ball ready, so he did not think it was a problem. pete did though. when he handed the ball to him rose pointed to the sign and refused to autograph the ball for him. my friend refused to pay $75 for a ball so he left. on his way out, he was ticked. he peeked over the partician that was enclosing pete and said "hey pete, whats the line on the reds game?" he told me that pete turned red as a rose. pete rose is a loser.

Drew, that baseball signing story is the best one I've heard so far. Rose is a loser and an idiot.

I still say put him in the HOF, but give him a big exhibit showing all the embarassing and disgraceful things he's done. That
Baseballs $75 sign should be right behind his plaque.

From mlb.com

Quote:
For the first time in franchise history, the entire St. Louis roster will be wearing Robinson's No. 42 when the Cardinals host the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, April 15.

"We just heard today that that was possible to do, so we checked with the players and they all wanted to do it," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said on Friday. "I guess that sends a message about how this club feels about what he went through [and the] opportunities he's provided for others."
Am I the only one out there who thinks this is, like, really, really retarded?

When I read about Griffey wearing #42, I thought, "what a cool gesture." But then the idiot Cardinals have to do some kind of one upmanship (uhh, 24-upmanship) and all wear #42?

There's a difference between a subtle and touching honor, and stupid "look at me" behavior.
