I'm all for it. Get us a starting pitcher. Knockout pitcher to solidify our shaky rotation and put us over the top probably isn't going to be Reynolds/Capellan/Hirsh/Towers.
But what of Atkins and Mr. Holliday's friendship? If Matt continues to put up MVP-worthy numbers this year, will the front office trade away Stewart in a vain effort to lock up Holliday for years and years (however illogical any step in that process may be)? |

He absolutely dominated at Asheville last year... projection-wise, it looks like he could help out the big league club right now... he's 23 years old... this is a guy we should be pushing up the chain. Nice to see Weathers finally racking up the K's. |

As far as other half of the club; keep looking studly, Mr. Fowler. Thanks for starting to play up to your draft position, Mr. Carte. Mr. Nelson.... OBPs lower than batting averages are generally frowned upon, particularly when that batting average is .240. |

Xavier Cedeno: 6 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 1 K Dexter Fowler: 2-4, 2B, BB Chris Nelson: 2-3, 2 2B - .250/.269/.361 Modesto Shane Lindsay: 6 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 9 K Asheville Bruce Billings: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 10 K, 1 HR Darin Holcomb: 2-4, 2 HR - .347/.405/.653 I recall that the ProspectBot thought much more highly of Holcomb than anyone else did. So far, so good (and for anyone worried that he's an Asheville mirage, I should note that this was a road game)... |
