Can someone explain to me how the best defensive team, statistically, in the history of the National League, if not all of Major League, history does not have a Gold Glove winner. I realize that this is an old boys network, but for Pete's sake can't they put somebody who deserves it on the the winner's roster. Jimmy Rollins beat out Tulowitzki and Vizquel, give me a frickin' break.

Lee and Rollins were bad choices, but I would have voted for Pujols and Vizquel over our guys anyway. |

Just want to chime in with Gerry and his sentiments. We made it to the World Series. One of the big reasons that happened was because of our vaunted defense. You'd think there would be ONE gold glover on that historic Rockie defensive team.
No respect. East Coast bias. Is Pujols really a better fielder than Todd? I suppose the ODog is better than Kaz. This was a case where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts? Tulo and Todd were the two defensive standouts, and there were better individuals on other teams at those positions. I always thought of Derek Lee as an excellent 1B, better than Todd, and what can you say about Vizquel besides that he's great, even if he's lost a step or two or if his arm isn't as strong as it once was. Ozzie Smith never had a howitzer at SS, certainly not a Tulo arm. |
