A pair of two-year extensions for O'Dowd and Hurdle
Saying goodbye to Steve Finley and John Mabry. 17 wins from ace Jeff Francis. MVP season (NL batting crown, League leader in 3+ categories not including bloody noses at the plate) from Matt Holliday ROY Troy Tulowitski (offensive and defensive wunderkind) The smiling worth-every-penny bearded one, Todd Helton Respect for Brad Hawpe Tying a franchise record win streak at 7 by beating up on the powerful AL East Sweeping the New York Yankees at Coors Field The resurgence of Garrett Atkins Not trading for the likes of Tomko, Trachsel, Wells, and so on. (Thank you, Mark Redman) U-ball and Morales, the next generation R today Ryan Spilborghs The speed of Taveras and Matsui The defense of Carroll, Sullivan, and this record-setting team The emergence of Manny Corpas The "veteran presence" of Matt Herges The Spanish-speaking, plate-blocking, fired-up Yorvit Torrealba Seth Smith, Ian Stewart, Juan Morillo, and the next generation R of tomorrow Setting a franchise record with an 11-game win streak, playing meaningful games in September. Finishing ahead of the Dodgers Taking two from the Dbacks to force a tiebreaker. Beating up Jake Peavy and Trevor Hoffman, thus finishing ahead of the Padres 163 games+4 innings Put Aaron Cook and Jason Hirsh on that plane to Tucson. The 2007 Colorado Rockies are in the playoffs. |

Good post. To that list I'd add that the pitching staff set a franchise record low for ERA, and the defense set a franchise low for errors and high for fielding percentage. Did we break the alltime record? The error by Carroll may have cost us, but I haven't heard.
