Remember how the first game of the Rockies-D'Backs series went to the D'Backs?
I thought it was because the Rockies had a night get-away game in L.A., and the D'Backs were in town before the Rockies were. If it was a day game with the Rockies were already here, and the Padres coming in later, it would've been an advantage for the home team. BTW, both Peavy and Fogg have ERA's at about 3.25 for Sept. |

I see it's going to be on TBS! Who would think to look there for the game?!
I really appreciate this site. This is my baseball contact nowadays. In my former life I'd be rapping with my softball team but those days are done. It's good to be around a group of intelligent baseball fans who care, and know what's going on, and share their opinions and worries and enthusiasm. There is nothing like a one game playoff. Every pitch is magnified. Every decision Hurdle makes will be examined with a fine toothed comb (whatever that is). What are some baseball cliches that apply tonite? Momentum is today's starting pitcher. The most important pitch is strike one. Well, I could list a dozen more. Off to do chores. It would be nice to get a lead and then worry from that vantage point. Is it 5:30pm yet??? |

Couldn't Holliday have scored on that single by Atkins? I would have. Clearly it was a hit from my living room. Matt turned around, looked at it, then jogged to 3B.
Peavy is looking human. We got to him early. Can't ask for a better start, well, it should be 3-0 if Holliday would have scored. |

There's going to be so much to dissect with this game, especially if we lose.
Mostly that home run by Atkins in the 7th, that the umps saw as a double. How would it bounce that way if it DIDN'T hit metal, like a chair or railing, which would mean home run? Why have all these extra outfield umpires if they are too lazy or slow to get out there and see the play. How can we NOT have instant replay for home runs, in games like this? 6-6 bottom of the 10th...out |
