Default How cool is this?

It all comes down to the last day of the season.

I expect the Padres to throw Peavy on 3 days rest. Actually, they kind of have to ... if it comes down to a 1-day playoff with them, it would be right here at Coors. Even with Peavy going I doubt they'd want that.

Then you've got the Mets and Phillies tied up, too.

Gotta give the Brewers some credit. Nothing to play for but they play all their regular and Prince Fielder even takes advantage of Chris Young's incredibly slow delivery to swipe 2 bases. And Tony Gwynn Jr of all people ends it.

Like I said, how cool is that?

I'll be there tomorrow watching the scoreboard between every pitch.

When the rotation was decimated, he was a pleasant surprise, playing a major part in the Rockies resurrection.

Ubaldo Jimenez, the season now rests on you.

Go Rockies!

(The DC market gets Steelers-Cards instead of Broncos-Colts... eww... at least that choice was taken out of my hands, not that there was any question.)

We win 12 of 13 and still need help while the bumbling Mets and the Phils still control their own destiny. What a game.

He's been horrible on 3 days rest, so bring that on. Actually on the television broadcast I thought they said they were going to hold Peavy back for the first playoff game or tie-breaker to get into the playoffs. Don't know if they'll actually do that or not, but that would make the most sense IMO.

Unless Bud Black is bluffing (and I've never seen a manager bluff by being definitive), it looks like Tomko tomorrow.

Gaslamp Ball :: A San Diego Padres blog... Only more so!

Peavy was awful in his only start on 3-days rest earlier this month (against the D'backs). I looked back and saw that his only other start on 3-days rest was a couple years ago. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 1 run.

So if it's Suppan vs. Tomko, we've really got a decent chance. I can't really imagine why Black would want to do this -- Suppan is no great pitcher, but he's better than Tomko (and way, way worse than Peavy, even a Peavy working on short rest).

But thank you, Bud.

The Brewers-Padres game starts about an hour before the game at Coors ... if the Brew Crew gets off to a good start, the atmosphere will be electric

So great to have this writing site of fellow Rox fanatics!

I heard it was Tomko too.

How about that Tony Gwynn JR doing in his Dad's old team for us yesterday! Is that irony?

Did you see Prince Fielder get taken out at 1B? I hope he's ok. We need all good Brewers on deck, especially the wobbly Suppan, and the runner up Rookie of the Year Braun guy.

Tulo has to get 2 more RBI to crack 100, even though I've learned from this site that RBI don't mean anything. There are still some old fogey baseball writer voters who still think the old way and it might push him over the top. How about that Grand Salami last night to put the nail in the coffin!

Let's see...watch a meaningless Bronco game or the Rockies for all the marbles. Decisions, decisions...

Tulo is two short of 100 RBI.

Atkins is .001 short of a .300 average.

Hawpe is 1 homerun short of 30.

I say that if all three make up those shortages in today's game, we will win. Maybe we'll win even if Tulo doesn't have 100 RBI, Atkins fails to hit .300, and Hawpe stays stuck at 29 HRs, but I like our chances more if they do make those numbers.

The Brewers should win today as well. I give us a 36% shot at having a tiebreaker game, and an 18% chance of making the NLDS, 9% chance of making the NLCS, 4% chance of making the World Series, and a 2% chance of being WORLD CHAMPS!! So we are still a 50/1 longshot to go all the way, but to be there on Sept. 30th is already a pretty big deal.

Long-suffering Rockies fans are finally getting a payback on their patience.

Add to that, Holliday clinging to the batting crown.

I'll have to remember to take my calculator with me, as I walk and listen to the game on radio and root for our Rox.

I feel the need to keep calculating those percentages!

The Fish dropped a 7 spot on the Mets in the first inning!!

If only the Brewers could do the same.

Go Rockies!
