The former Packers coach Mike Sherman is the top candidate, that would be an interesting hire. Personally I didn't mind him as a coach in Green Bay, but he made a few bonehead mistakes while in Green Bay. Anyway it would be a decent job for Sherman to take at a Big 12 school...

I wish Sherman good luck on his new job. It's going to be no easy task to compete and be a success in the Big 12.

I'm a graduate of A&M and I'm happy with this hire. I was especially excited about it after hearing Sherman talk. It sounds like he's only ever wanted to be the head coach of two teams - A&M or Green Bay. He loves the school and he has more familiarity with it than Fran did.
I still think Franchione was a good hire, but he changed his coaching style after joining up at A&M. The Texas game was a perfect example of the athletes A&M has. We don't need better recruiting, we need better coaching. If Fran had hung it out there for the past five years like he did in that game, he would still be coaching in College Station. |
