What a game. three overtimes sesions and such a high score.
The final i think was 50-48 Arakansas with LSU missing on the 2 pnt conversion. This was probably one of the best games that i have ever seen in college football in my whole life.

And Flutie's Hail mary (Flood Tide) over Miami many Thanksgivings ago was the most exciting non-OT game |

Bad coaching by both teams, that is all...It should have never went into 3 overtimes, but just some pathetic, idiotic calls on Nutt and Miles part....I would be mad to be a fan of the team that lost, LSU

I hate the NCAAs overtime rules almost as much as I hate the BCS. I'd rather see the game end in a tie than watch those silly bunny-boink contests.
However, I do love the result of this game, as it exposes the whole BCS system as a complete fraud. Right now, there are as many as eight teams that deserve a shot at a national title and no two that deserve it more than any of the others. So, if you think your favorite team is the best in the land, go ahead and print up a National Champions t-shirt. Your opinion is as good as anyone else's. |

Ties...are like kissing your sister...and there is nothing worse than watching a coach play for a tie when that is how it finishes. The college OT is fair, giving both teams equal chances with lost of room for strategy...while the Pros leave way too much to the luck of a coin toss. I can't believe many would agree with you here, dlb...but would love to hear other's opionions |

I'm definitely in the minority on this. I'm a real old-schooler on the subject of ties. I figure that if both teams make it to the end of regulation with the score still even, then that's the purest representation of their contest. If you have to go for an OT, give it a full extra period, or even a shortened one, as in basketball.

there isnothing purer than "Sudden Death", as in Ice Hockey...but that is a sport that shares a constant reversal of offense and defense. Both teams have an equal chance from the dropof a puck.
OT is college football is not unlike that in baseball...both teams get equal chances. Pro football is set up like sudden death in baseball, if who ever scored first one regardless of inning. A quarter, or less...in football is so arbitrary. There is no guarentee, not even an assumption, of equal chance. |

I kind of miss the tie, actually.
My problem with the college OT is that it isn't real football. But I'm not crazy about the NFL's sudden death, either. The nature of football doesn't lend itself to a perfect overtime. Baseball just extends the game, as do basketabll and hockey. Maybe playing a full 15 minutes would be the best solution. |

Its a shame, dlb, that you have to let your petty hatred of the BCS get int he way of enjoying what is easily the best college football season in 7 years, probably more.
The fact is, LSu vs Kentucky, Arkansas vs LSU, Kentucky vs Tennessee, Notre Dame vs Navy, all four of these games became instant classics . . . something no other NFL overtime game can say. College football is about excitement and that is exactly what the NCAA overtime rules provide. You sound like the type of person who probably enjoyed todays Miami-Pittsburgh garbage-fest (final score: 3-0) more than any of the four games listed above, and that is depressing. I don't really know if I agree with the current BCS set-up, but sometimes reading these posts I wonder if I'm the only one here who is actually willing to appreciate whats being offered. College football offers the most exciting regular season of all sports. Compare Colts/Pats with Missouri/Kansas. The former was a good game, but meaningless, a "preview" of what we'll inevitably witness int he playoffs again. For all its faults, the the current BCS system made Missouri/Kansas the game of the year - this was a regular season game with national championship implications on the line. As much as the thought seems to scare you . . . try to enjoy the game for once . . you might actually have a good time. |

I do enjoy the games. I just feel that the OT is a silly, rinky-dink way to settle the final score and no real improvement over a tie.
As for the most exciting regular season in all of sports, that would have to go to college basketball. |
