Default NCAA moving 3-point line back

NCAA approves moving 3-point line back a foot:

Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The NCAA on Friday approved moving the men's 3-point line back 1 foot in 2008 -- from 19 feet, 9 inches to 20 feet, 9 inches.

The decision by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel marks the first major alteration to the 3-point shot since its adoption in 1986-87.

The men's basketball rules committee recommended the measure May 3.

Why now?

It kins of gets me mad, all the past records will be sort of changed because of the new line being moved back. The one thing that makes college basketball so great is the ability to make the 3 easier, with it anything can happen.
I am not to set on that, anyone satisfied or dissatified?

This is LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG overdue

Great move by the NCAA, the 3 point line in college has become a joke....I dont know how it has lasted this long at this length but I couldnt be happier to see it being moved back.

Yes, it seems like a good move. Objective proof of its necessity would be found in overall shooting percentages.

Shooting 33% from behind the arc is the same as hitting 50% of your 2-ptrs. One point for every shot taken is very effective offense. So, if the 3-pt percentage across DI is over 33%, the shot is too easy.

Personally, I'd like to see all levels above high school (NBA, college, Olympic), use the same distance. The current Olympic line seems about right.
