Huggins bolts for home
This is completely shocking to me, just 1 year after taking over @ Kansas St, Bob Huggins has stepped down and taken the WVU job. Now keep in mind that Huggins played for WVU, so it isnt as bad as it looks on the surface BUT he is leaving JUST 1 year after KState gave him a second chance after the DUI. This will also mean that Billy Walker will probably leave for the NBA draft after his freshman year for KState.

Interesting, I don't know why he would leave Kansas State he looked like he was building a great program
Kansas State currently had the top ranked recruiting class, stange isn't it?

He left because WVU is his home, he played there
Usually when your alma mater comes calling you go, IE Roy Williams Huggins has also been able to recruit it will be no different at UWV.

Yeah, I don't fault him for going to his alma mater. Matt Doherty came to Carolina after only a year or so at Notre Dame.
I fault WVU for hiring hime. It's not just the DUI. There was a time when Huggins' graduation rate at Cincy was 0%. He may have raised it into the low teens before he got caught drinking and driving, but I doubt it. The guy recruits players who don't belong in college and aren't good enough to make the NBA. Once he gets them on campus, he does nothing to see that they get anything out of it but free room and board. It's pure exploitation; college basketball at its worst. |
