Default FanHome's Pick Four NCAA Tourney Challenge

We are going to run this right here on the boards this year. You will pick four teams from various seeding brackets and get points as they advance. I will update standings after each weekend's events.

After the brackets come out you will pick one team each from the following categories. Point values per win will double per round, and bonus points will be awarded for each seeding level.

1-4 seed
5-8 seed (X 1.5)
9-12 seed (X 2)
13-16 seed (x3)

this means that if you pick the a 7th seed and they win 3 games that would be worth one point for the first round, two points for the second round, four points for their third round win times 1.5 for their seeding value for a total of 10.5 points.

Again, you only pick four teams, one from each seeding level. So maybe teams that are 2, 6, 10, and 15 seeds.

You will pick the team for the entirity of the tournament, and it is not a draft, so any poster can have UCLA, or UNC.

Enter your picks here prior to the games on Thursday. Anyone who gets them in by the Tuesday night play-in game and picks one of those teams as their "16 seed" will get the three points if that team wins the play-in game.

I have had someone ask me about tiebreaking procedures.

What I have decided to go with to use the Conference that gets the most WINS in the tourney. So pick the Conference that you expect to get the most wins.

I'm going to be giving a 25$ Starbucks Card to the winner. This is a personal out of pocket gift. It is not an endorsement by Starbucks.

Arizona - 10 seed

Also with a regional flavor:
UNC - 1 seed
Clemson - 5 seed
Davidson - 10 seed
Georgia - 14 seed

BTW, UMBC - the 15 seed in the Midwest has one of the best (if not the best) chess programs in the U.S.

Early trend has 5 picks of UNC and 3 picks for Georgia.

There are 3 picks for the PAC10 having the most wins and two for the Big East in the tie breaker. A few entrants should add the tie-breaker.

I don't know college basketball to save my life... but if, with these picks, I somehow happen to win.... I would rather see a $20 or $25 gift to charity in the name of Fanhome... maybe thru Kiva or something

I have UNC winning it all... BUT... since everyone else has them, and I picked them to win it all.. they're bound to lose...

So

1) UCLA #1 Seed
2) Clemson #5 Seed
3) George Mason #12 Seed
4) Siena #13 Seed

Big 12

Dave, if you win, I'll make that happen

Notable is that Captive Coyote has picked a winner in the playin game, trying for four points in the first round.
