The issue really becomes taking Perez and Betancourt out of their respective roles at a critical part of the season. They both are pitching lights out as setup men, and I would be hard pressed to change that role in the post season.

I think Betancourt could go 8-9. Borowski had another sub par effort last night. No, he didn't blow another one but once again, two outs and he allows two runners on. With a two run lead he was one pitch from another blown save.

Borowski is a disaster waiting to happen, but he's been our closer all year, and we have 95 wins. This team won 95 games. We will be in a position to win games in the postseason with C.C. and Fausto heading the rotation. Hopefully we can give Borowski 2 and 3 run leads to make things easier. Regardless, the Indians have learned how to win even with a closer with a 5+ ERA. I don't care how they do it, as long as they keep on winning.

Boroski just doesn't invoke alot of confidence....Man thats tough when your going into a playoff situation...
You have to start second guessing yourself....or do you??? There's my problem I have with Boroski.....

He gets the job done, doesn't he?
And more importantly - when he doesn't get the job done he wants to ball the next time out. Yes, the Indians need a long term solution at closer. But for this year, and for that matter, next year too, Borowski can do the job. |

He was a long fly and one pitch from blowing a three run lead. Yes, you can say he got the job done but if Posada's ball had been a few feet to the left, it's likely a different game.
He simply grooves too many balls. If it gets to the W.S. and it's a one run lead to win, I hope Betencourt comes back out. It really would matter little to Borowski's ego at that point as he isn't going to be the closer next year anyways. The only reason he got it done last night was because the Indians got it done through the top half of the innings. |

And hopefully, we won't see a Boston player with a monster blast to the upper deck of the stadium.....ala Abreu.....
Man...Abreu simply creamed that pitch.....I'd bet he'll never hit another ball any harder..... And as the announcers were saying, when Betancourt is in there and he's lights out for the hitters, it sure is hard not to leave him in another inning, isn't it.... Whats nice with this team is the options Wedgie has....the problem is knowing when the other options will be the best one...

Which is why I hope, when we get to 9th innings and he's called upon, we always have at least a 2-run lead. Preferably 3. I just don't need the extra strain in my life at this point in time.

Of course we know by now Borowski didn't blow the ALCS (like apparently every Indian fan but me thought would happen) and that his option for the next year was picked up (apparently thought to be a bad idea by most every Indian fan but me).

I don't understand why Borowski continues to "close" games for the Indians. I'm not convinced that he even belongs in the major leagues. Did he really think he was going to beat Manny Ramirez with a 82mph fastball?
I'll take the victory, but the Indians gave this one away. Just about anyone in the Cleveland bullpen would be better than Joe Borowski. Why does Eric Wedge show so much loyalty to him?

To be or not to be. That is the question. Whether it is smarter to use the hired Japanese closer that we have or to let BS (Blow Save) Borowski to allow the Indians to get their butts kicked every night. BOROWSKI SUCKS--the time has come for the Usual Suspect--Kobayashi !!!!!!!
