Indians signed outfielder Trot Nixon, who had been with the Red Sox, to a one-year, $3 million contract.
Nixon could have kept trying for more money, but joining the Indians puts him on a contender and he can make $2 million more in incentives. He'll make $250,000 for 200 plate appearances and every additional 50 plate appearances through 550. Nixon will probably bat fifth against right-handers behind Travis Hafner and Victor Martinez. That could lead to some pretty good RBI numbers when he's healthy.
