The Cleveland Cavaliers are sliding down the Eastern Conference standings,
and their inconsistency and sputtering offense are beginning to frustrate All-Star
LeBron James.

James and the Cavaliers look to start a turnaround Wednesday as they try to sweep the two-game season series from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Cleveland (27-21) has lost eight of its last 12 games to fall from first to fifth place in the East.

"I'm at a loss for words,'' James said after Sunday's 90-78 loss to Detroit. "One night we go out and score 100 and the next night we score 70.''

James scored 11 points — three above his season low and 15 below his average — and spent the first half of the fourth quarter watching as the scuffling Cavaliers, who came in just 4-8 since Jan. 16, won their fifth straight at home against the Clippers.

CLEVELAND - Determined to shake things up, the Cavaliers attempted to run at every opportunity Wednesday night.

It didn't exactly work.

They did, on the other hand, play aggressive and intelligent defense. That worked quite smashingly.

Substituting a track meet for a slugfest wasn't appealing to the eye, but it got the Cavs the victory they wanted, 94-77 over the Los Angeles Clippers.

CLEVELAND — The Clippers' longest trip of the season hasn't gone well for them so far, and their hope for a big turnaround continued to fade Wednesday night in a 94-77 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in front of 20,129 at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Clippers shot only 26.2% from the field in the second half, were outrebounded, 54-42, in the game and trailed by 21 points in the fourth quarter.
